The Fluid Metrology Group (FMG) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is developing a primary, dynamic gravimetric liquid flow standard for use in the range 100 nL/min to 1 mL/min (and eventually lower). An elevated reservoir of water with a pressure head of a few centimeters provides a flow to the meter under test and the discharged water from it flows to a micro-balance...

We have realized a micromachined single chip flow sensing system with an ultra-wide dynamic flow range of more than five decades, from 100 nL/h up to more than 10 mL/h. The system comprises both a thermal and a micro Coriolis flow sensor with partially overlapping flow ranges.

A C-grid staggering, in which the mass variable is stored at cell centers and the normal velocity component is stored at cell faces (or edges in two dimensions) is attractive for atmospheric modeling since it enables a relatively accurate representation of fast wave modes. However, the discretization of the Coriolis terms is non-trivial. For constant Coriolis parameter, the linearized shallow w...

Preproduction and current models of the miniature Wright peak flow meter have been compared with the standard Wright peak flow meter on normal and abnormal subjects. Early problems in production appear to have been overcome, and the current model agrees to within 3% with the standard peak flow meter, which is as close as the agreement between two standard instruments. The new mini-meter may be ...

The purpose of this study was to examine whether the resistance of the peak flow meter influences its recordings. One hundred and twelve subjects, (healthy nonsmokers and smokers and subjects with lung diseases) performed three or more peak expiratory flow (PEF) manoeuvres through a Fleisch pneumotachograph with and without a mini-Wright peak flow meter added in random order as a resistance in ...

Fast rotating cool stars are characterised by high magnetic activity levels and frequently show dark spots up to polar latitudes. Their distinctive surface distributions of magnetic flux are investigated in the context of the solar-stellar connection by applying the solar flux eruption and surface flux transport models to stars with different rotation rates, mass, and evolutionary stage. The ri...

The present work proposes towards flow pattern prediction in a liquidliquid microchannel flow through a circular channel. Mass transfer in a microchannel mainly depends on the flow regime inside the channel. The liquid-liquid two phase flow regime in a microchannel depends on the flow velocity and the junction characteristics. Hence, the prediction of patterns has a superior role for the charac...
