We propose what we believe to be a novel method for highly accurate three-dimensional (3D) angle measurement based on propagation vector analysis of digital holography. Three-dimensional rotations in space can be achieved by use of a CCD camera and a multifacet object, which reflects an incident wave into different directions. The propagation vectors of the reflected waves from the object can b...
We introduce a bifocal imaging method that enables three-dimensional (3D) tracking of both fluorescent and nonfluorescent particles. We accomplish this by simultaneously imaging a focused plane, for in-plane position (x,y), and a defocused plane, for out-of-plane position (z), of a molecule using a single CCD camera. We applied our method to several systems including in vivo melanosome tracking...
We study the statistical properties of recordings that contain time-dependent positions of a bead trapped in optical tweezers. Analysis of such a time series indicates that the commonly accepted model, i.e., the autoregressive process of first-order, is not sufficient to fit the data. We show the presence of a first-order moving average part in the dynamical model of the system. We explain the ...
Background: Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is a rare inherited skeletal dysplasia, with an incidence of 1 case per 1000,000 individuals. It is a form of predominantly autosomal dominant inheritance and is associated with a mutation in runt related transcription factor-2 gene mapped on chromosome 6p21. This disease primarily affects the bones formed by intramembranous ossification and is characte...
We investigate the spatially and temporally resolved four-wave mixing of terahertz (THz) fields and optical pulses in large-bandgap dielectrics, such as diamond. We show that it is possible to perform beam profiling and space-time resolved mapping of THz fields by encoding the spatial information into an optical signal, which can then be recorded by a standard CCD camera.
We present a new method for the measurement of saturation of the optical transition of fluorescent molecules in solution, which is based on detection with a CCD camera of a two-dimensional projection of the three-dimensional, spatially nonuniform fluorescence intensity distribution as generated in a bulk solution of the fluorophore by excitation with focused femtosecond optical pulses. Essentia...
Single-exposure superresolved interferometric microscopy (SESRIM) by RGB multiplexing has recently been proposed as a way to achieve one-dimensional superresolved imaging in digital holographic microscopy by a single-color CCD snapshot [Opt. Lett. 36, 885 (2011)]. Here we provide the mathematical basis for the operating principle of SESRIM, while we also present a different experimental configu...
