The choice of software architecture of a system plays a vital role in its successful implementation and maintenance, especially for large, complex systems. An appropriate architecture must meet functional and nonfunctional requirements and must satisfy resource
Researchers and experts have employed various approaches in dealing with Islamic Architecture. Architects, scholars, designers, mystics and philosophers have interpreted this phenomenon in their particular ways over time. Some merely have considered historical descriptive methods as an outward expression. Sometimes these descriptions and analysis aim at definition of spaces and architectural el...
We present a Forth style virtual machine architecture designed to provide for constriant based programming. We add ?CONTINUE and CHOICE commands to allow for checking constraints and making tentative choice. A choice which is later seen to be incompatible with a constraint provokes backtracking, which is implemented by reversible execution of the virtual machine. keywords: Forth, Virtual Machin...
We introduce the DR-CONTRACT architecture to represent and reason on e-Contracts. The architecture extends the DR-device architecture by a deontic defeasible logic of violation. We motivate the choice for the logic and we show how to extend RuleML to capture the notions relevant to describe e-contracts for a monitoring perspective in Defeasible Logic.

Under certain circumstances, consumers are willing to pay a premium for privacy. We explore how choice architecture affects smartphone users’ stated willingness to install applications that request varying permissions. We performed two experiments to gauge smartphone users’ stated willingness to pay premiums to limit their personal information exposure when installing new applications. We found...
The Spiral Model [Boehm,19S6; Belz,19S6] provides a candidate approach to determining the requirements, architecture, and design of a software process. The Spiral Model activity of determining mission objectives and constraints addresses the requirements for the process: the nature of the product required; budget and schedule constraints; organizational and procedural (e.g. contracting) constra...
In this workshop, we are viewing recommender systems as tools for helping people make better choices.1 From this perspective, recommender systems researchers and designers should know something about (a) how people make choices and (b) how the process of choosing can be supported. In this way, they can enable their recommender systems to work together more effectively with (a) the cognitive pro...
There have been recent policy moves aimed at encouraging individuals to lead healthier lives. The Cabinet Office has set up a 'nudge unit' with health as one of its priorities and behavioural approaches have started to be integrated into health-related domestic policy in a number of areas. Behavioural research has shown that that the way the environment is constructed can shape a person's choic...
Concurrent interval schedules are classic experimental paradigms that are traditionally employed in psychological research on choice behaviour. To analyse the neural basis of choice in a concurrent fixed interval schedule, pigeons were trained to peck on two response keys. Responses were differentially rewarded in key specific short or long time intervals (SI vs. LI). Using tetrodotoxin, we rev...
