Content-based naming (CBN) enables content sharing across similar files by breaking files into positionindependent chunks and naming these chunks using hashes of their contents. While a number of research systems have recently used custom CBN approaches internally to good effect, there has not yet been any mechanism to use CBN in a general-purpose way. In this paper, we demonstrate a practical ...
We describe a system for detection and classification of moving targets. The system’s change detection and tracking modules are based on background adaptation, with the help of information about targets obtained from preceding time steps. The classification module performs a hybrid classification that combines motion and appearance features. The system is able to perform real-time detection, tr...
Large web services employ CDNs to improve user performance. CDNs improve performance by serving users from nearby FrontEnd (FE) Clusters. They also spread users across FE Clusters when one is overloaded or unavailable and others have unused capacity. Our paper is the first to study the dynamics of the user-to-FE Cluster mapping for Google and Akamai from a large range of client prefixes. We mea...
In this project, we explore a data-‐driven approach for monitoring rail infrastructure from the dynamic response of a train in revenue-‐service. Presently, rail inspection is performed either visually or with dedicated track geometry cars. We examine a more economical approach where ...
While a lot of approaches have been reported for change detection using high resolution images, few approaches which are used for different scale images have been developed. This paper proposes a change detection approach which can be used to detect the change in images with different scales. In this study, image objects have been extracted from images obtained at different time. Then, descript...
We present a multi-view change detection approach aimed at being robust with respect to common “disturbance factors” yielding image changes in realworld applications. Disturbance factors causing “slow” or “fast-and-global” image variations, such as light changes and dynamic adjustments of camera parameters (e.g. auto-exposure and auto-gain control), are dealt with by a proper single-view change...
A recent probabilistic change detection algorithm provides a way for assessing changes on remotesensed images which is more robust to geometric and atmospheric errors than existing pixel-based methods. However, its grid (patch)-based change detection results in coarse-resolution change maps and often discretizes continuous changes that occur across grid boundaries. In this study, we propose a s...
The problem of protecting computer systems can be viewed generally as the problem of learning to distinguish self from other. We describe a method for change detection which is based on the generation of T cells in the immune system. Mathematical analysis reveals computational costs of the system, and preliminary experiments illustrate how the method might be applied to the problem of computer ...
Biodiversity in China is analyzed based on the components of the Dynamic Habitat Index (DHI). First, observed field survey based spatial patterns of species richness including threatened species are presented to test their linear relationship with remote sensing based DHI (2001–2010 MODIS). Areas with a high cumulative DHI component are associated with relatively high species richness, and thre...
In this Letter, an unsupervised algorithm for detecting changes in multi-spectral and multi-temporal remotely-sensed images is presented. Such an algorithm makes it possible to reduce the eVects of r̀egistration noise’ on the accuracy of change detection. In addition, it can be used to reduce the typologies of detected changes in order to better locate the changes under investigation.
