The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of ultrasound as a conservation method for the inactivation of Escherichia coli inoculated into cactus pear juices (green and purple). Total soluble solids, pH, titratable acidity, and the kinetics of E. coli in cactus pear juices treated by ultrasound (60%, 70%, 80% and 90% amplitude levels for 1, 3 and 5min) were evaluated over 5 days...
Co-infection with two virus species was previously reported in some cactus plants. Here, we showed that Notocactus leninghausii f. cristatus can be co-infected with six different viruses: cactus mild mottle virus (CMMoV)-Nl, cactus virus X (CVX)-Nl, pitaya virus X (PiVX)-Nl, rattail cactus necrosis-associated virus (RCNaV)-Nl, schlumbergera virus X (SchVX)-Nl, and zygocactus virus X (ZyVX)-Nl. ...
Temporal programming languages are recognized as natu ral and expressive formalisms for describing dynamic systems However most such languages are based on linear ow of time a fact that makes them unsuitable for certain types of applications In this paper we in troduce the new temporal logic programming language Cactus which is based on a branching notion of time In Cactus the truth value of a ...
The Cactus Framework is an open-source, modular, portable programming environment for the collaborative development and deployment of scientific applications using high-performance computing. Its roots reach back to 1996 at the National Center for Supercomputer Applications and the Albert Einstein Institute in Germany, where its development jumpstarted. Since then, the Cactus framework has witn...
Real-time access to accurate and reliable timing information is necessary to profile scientific applications, and crucial as simulations become increasingly complex, adaptive, and large-scale. The Cactus Framework provides flexible and extensible capabilities for timing information through a well designed infrastructure and timing API. Applications built with Cactus automatically gain access to...
The edge-Szeged index is recently introduced graph invariant, having applications in chemistry. In this paper, a method of calculating the edge-Szeged index of hexagonal chain is proposed, and the results of the index are presented.
BACKGROUND Cancer chemoprevention is a new approach in cancer prevention, in which chemical agents are used to prevent cancer in normal and/or high-risk populations. Although chemoprevention has shown promise in some epithelial cancers, currently available preventive agents are limited and the agents are costly, generally with side effects. Natural products, such as grape seed, green tea, and c...
We describe some necessary conditions for the existence of a Hamiltonian path in any graph (in other words, for a graph to be traceable). These conditions result in a linear time algorithm to decide the Hamiltonian path problem for cactus graphs. We apply this algorithm to several molecular databases to report the numbers of graphs that are traceable cactus graphs.
As highly discriminant distance-based topological indices, the Balaban index and the sum-Balaban index of a graph $G$ are defined as $J(G)=frac{m}{mu+1}sumlimits_{uvin E} frac{1}{sqrt{D_{G}(u)D_{G}(v)}}$ and $SJ(G)=frac{m}{mu+1}sumlimits_{uvin E} frac{1}{sqrt{D_{G}(u)+D_{G}(v)}}$, respectively, where $D_{G}(u)=sumlimits_{vin V}d(u,v)$ is the distance sum of vertex $u$ in $G$, $m$ is the n...
