BACKGROUND Calcified rotator cuff tendinitis is a common cause of chronic shoulder pain that leads to significant pain and functional limitations. Although most patients respond well to conservative treatment, some eventually require surgical treatment. PURPOSE To evaluate the clinical outcome with arthroscopic removal of calcific deposit and rotator cuff repair without acromioplasty for the ...

Calcifying fibrous pseudotumor has recently been described in the soft tissues. It is a rare benign lesion characterized by the presence of abundant hyalinized collagen with psammomatous or dystrophic calcifications and lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate. We report a case of a young woman with a mediastinal mass treated by a complete resection. The mass had all the pathologic features of calcifying f...

This study evaluates the hypothesis that shoulder loads in repetitive work might contribute to the occurrence of shoulder tendinitis. METHODS This is a cross-sectional study of 1961 workers in repetitive work and 782 referents. Shoulder loads were quantified at task level and measures of expo...

We have performed a double-blind placebo-controlled trial of moderate doses of extracorporeal shock-wave therapy (ESWT) for non-calcific tendonitis of the rotator cuff. Adults (74) with chronic tendonitis of the rotator cuff were randomised to receive either active (1500 pulses ESWT at 0.12 mJ/mm2) or sham treatment, monthly for three months. All were assessed before each treatment, and at one ...
