This is a slight extension of an expository paper I wrote a while ago as a supplement to my joint work with Declan Quinn on Burnside’s theorem for Hopf algebras. It was never published, but may still be of interest to students and beginning researchers. Let K be a field and let A be an algebra over K. Then the tensor product A⊗A = A⊗K A is also a K-algebra, and it is quite possible that there e...
Letm be a positive integer. In this talk, we will introduce optimal conditions, expressed in terms of Sobolev spaces, on m-linear Fourier multiplier operatorsto be bounded from a product of Lebesgue or Hardy spaces to Lebesgue spaces. Our results are sharp and cover the bilinear case (m = 2) obtained by Miyachiand Tomita [1]. Human gait corresponds to the physiological way of locomotion, which can be affected by several injuries. Thus, gait analysis plays an important role in observing kinematic and kinetic parameters of the joints involved with such movement pattern. Due to the complexity of such analysis, this paper explores the performance of two adaptive methods, Fuzzy c-means (FCM) and Self-organizing maps (SOM...
The geometry of Rn is controlled algebraically by the dot product. We will abstract the dot product on Rn to a bilinear form on a vector space and study algebraic and geometric notions related to bilinear forms (especially the concept of orthogonality in all its manifestations: orthogonal vectors, orthogonal subspaces, and orthogonal bases). Section 1 defines a bilinear form on a vector space a...
We study piecewise monotone and piecewise continuous maps f from a rooted oriented tree to itself, with weight functions either piecewise constant or of bounded variation. We deene kneading coordinates for such tree maps. We show that the Milnor-Thurston relation holds between the weighted reduced zeta function and the weighted kneading determinant of f. This generalizes a result known for piec...
Given an arbitrary measure μ, this study shows that the set of norm attaining multilinear forms is not dense in the space of all continuous multilinear forms on L1 μ . However, we have the density if and only if μ is purely atomic. Furthermore, the study presents an example of a Banach space X in which the set of norm attaining operators from X into X∗ is dense in the space of all bounded linea...
In this paper we characterize the left Jordan derivations on Banach algebras. Also, it is shown that every bounded linear map $d:mathcal Ato mathcal M$ from a von Neumann algebra $mathcal A$ into a Banach $mathcal A-$module $mathcal M$ with property that $d(p^2)=2pd(p)$ for every projection $p$ in $mathcal A$ is a left Jordan derivation.
A possible notion of superspace associated to a given 3-dimensional Lie algebra g0 might be a Lie superalgebra g g0 ⊕ g1. If one is to introduce a minimal set of assumptions, it seems quite natural to consider those superalgebras for which g1 g0 and for which the g0 action on g1 is the adjoint representation. A complete classification of the real and complex 3, 3 -dimensional Lie superalgebras ...
