INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to evaluate the early functional outcome following the use of a bioabsorbable suture anchor to simplify the repair of injured lateral ankle structures as a variation of an established technique known as the Brostrom-Gould procedure. METHODS This was a prospective study of 30 ankles with chronic lateral instability that underwent a modified Brostrom-G...

INTRODUCTION During endoscopic anterior skull base surgery, reconstruction options for defects of the sella turcica or anterior cranial base require careful consideration of defect size, shape, location, and need for adjuvant therapy. A variety of techniques are available, ranging from single layer reconstruction to multilayer reconstruction with microvascular tissue transfer. Each method has p...

Guided tissue regeneration materials were reviewed in this paper and can be categorized as non-resorbable and bioabsorbable. Both materials have been used extensively in periodontal regeneration with no difference in the clinical outcome. Selection of barrier material depends on resorbability, size of the defect, morphology of the defect, operator preference and patient acceptance.

BACKGROUND Different types of bioabsorbable and nonresorbable membranes have been widely used for guided tissue regeneration (GTR) with its ultimate goal of regenerating lost periodontal structures. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the biological effects of various bioabsorbable and nonresorbable membranes in cultures of primary human gingival fibroblasts (HGF), periodontal liga...

PURPOSE To report a new technique of arthroscopic biceps tenodesis using bioabsorbable interference screw fixation and the early results. TYPE OF STUDY Prospective, nonrandomized study. METHODS TECHNIQUE The principle of arthroscopic biceps tenodesis is simple: after biceps tenotomy, the tendon is exteriorized and doubled on a suture; the biceps tendon is then pulled into a humeral socke...

BACKGROUND This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of arthroscopic bioabsorbable screw fixation in osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) in adolescent patients with unstable lesions causing pain. METHODS The study included 11 patients (10 males and 1 female) with OCD who underwent arthroscopic bioabsorbable screw fixation between July 2007 and February 2014 and were avai...

The Endotine midface technique, through an endoscopic temporal-incision only approach, is the author's preferred method of malar fat pad suspension and fixation. The bioabsorbable Endotine device avoids an intraoral incision, eliminates sutures, offers multipoint fixation, and the leash fixation mechanism provides fast and simple adjustability for optimal control of midface elevation and volume.
