⎯We consider a single server retrial queue with batch arrivals, two phases of heterogeneous service and multiple vacations with Npolicy. The primary arrivals find the server busy or doing secondary job (vacation) will join orbit (group of repeated calls). If the number of repeated calls in orbit is less than N, the server does the secondary job repeatedly until the retrial group size reaches N....

In this paper, we study the performance of packet concentrators with input queueing. A recent concentrator model given by Gündüzhan and Oruç considers packet concentrators with different input and output packet rates and gives a minimum crosspoint complexity construction for buffered sparse crossbar concentrators. We use this model as a basis for the performance evaluation of concentrators whic...

This paper deals with the performance evaluation of a two node communication network with dynamic bandwidth allocation and modified phase type transmission having bulk arrivals. The performance of the statistical multiplexing is measured by approximating with the compound Poisson process and the transmission completions with Poisson processes. It is further assumed that the transmission rate at...

Rational Arrival Processes (RAPs) form a general class of stochastic processes which include Markovian Arrival Processes (MAPs) as a subclass. In this paper we study RAPs and their representations of different sizes. We show some transformation methods between different representations and present conditions to evaluate the size of the minimal representation. By using some analogous results fro...

In this paper, we discuss a generalization of the classical compound Poisson model with claim sizes following distribution. As applications, consider models involving zero-truncated geometric, negative-binomial and binomial batch-claim arrivals. We also provide some ruin-related quantities under resulting risk models. Finally, through numerical examples, visualize behavior these quantities.

We consider a two-node fluid network with batch arrivals of random size having a heavy-tailed distribution. We are interested in the tail asymptotics for the stationary distribution of a two-dimensional queue-length process. The tail asymptotics have been well studied for two-dimensional reflecting processes where jumps have either a bounded or an unbounded light-tailed distribution. However, p...

This paper considers a general class of discrete time systems with batch arrivals and departures. Such models appear frequently in the teletraffic analysis of computer and communications networks. Our arrival models are assumed to be quite general. They could be independent and identically distributed (i.i.d) in successive slots, be periodic, be Markovian or described by the moving average time...

We study a double-sided queue with batch arrivals and abandonment. There are two types of customers, patient ones who queue but may later abandon, and impatient ones who depart immediately if their order is not filled. The system matches units from opposite sides of the queue based on a first-come first-served policy. The model is particularly applicable to a class of alternative trading system...
