Effect of photoaligning azo-dye layers thickness on the alignment quality and multiplex operation of passively addressed ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) 1.5μm display cells has been investigated. An optimal (about 3~5 nm) azo-dye layer thickness, that provides both the highest multiplex operation steadiness and the best contrast ratio of FLC display cells was found.

Under anaerobic conditions the sulfonated azo dye Mordant Yellow 3 was reduced by the biomass of a bacterial consortium grown aerobically with 6-aminonaphthalene-2-sulfonic acid. Stoichiometric amounts of the aromatic amines 6-aminonaphthalene-2-sulfonate and 5-aminosalicylate were generated and excreted into the medium. After re-aeration of the culture, these amines were mineralized by differe...

It has been known that certain azo dyes will produce cancer of the liver. During the precancerous stages the liver appears to undergo some definite changes. The activity of these azo dye carcinogens is influenced by several dietary factors. Thus the liver can be protected partiahy from the effects of the dye by simultaneous intake of increased amounts of riboflavin (1). This conforms with the f...

The present work describes the development of a voltammetric sensor for the selective determination of Acid Green 25 (AG25) hair dye, widely used in commercial temporary hair dyes. The method is based on a glassy carbon electrode modified with multiwalled carbon nanotubes activated in the presence of sulfuric acid, where the anthraquinone group present as a chromophore in the dye molecule is re...

The long-term performance of a bioaugmented membrane bioreactor (MBR) containing a GAC-packed anaerobic zone for treatment of textile wastewater containing structurally different azo dyes was observed. A unique feeding strategy, consistent with the mode of evolution of separate waste streams in textile plants, was adopted to make the best use of the GAC-zone for dye removal. Dye was introduced ...

mn doped zno nanocomposite thin film coated on glass by a simple spin-coating method was used to degrade an azo textile dye from aqueous environment. mn doped zno nanocomposite thin film was characterized by means of x-ray diffraction (xrd) and scanning electron microscopy (sem). the photo-reduction activity of photocatalyst was evaluated using an azo textile dye as organic contaminant irradiat...

Biocatalysis based effluent treatment has outclassed the presently favored physico-chemical treatments due to nil sludge production and monetary savings. Azo dyes are commonly employed in the leather industry and pose a great threat to the environment. Here, we show the degradation of C. I. Acid blue 113 using horseradish peroxidase (HRP) assisted with H2O2 as a co-substrate. It was observed th...

Ž . The excited state dynamics of a water-soluble polymeric dye poly S-119 was investigated using femtosecond time-reŽ . solved fluorescence upconversion. Multi-exponential relaxation of fluorescence was observed for poly S-119 in picosecond and sub-picosecond time ranges. The azo-chromophore of the functionalized polymeric dye Sunset Yellow was used as a model compound for detailed investigati...
