Reasoning about how much to generate when space is limited is a challenge for generation systems. This paper presents two algorithms that exploit the discourse structure to decide which content to drop when there are space restrictions, in the context of producing documents from pre-authored text fragments. We analyse the effectiveness of both algorithms and show that the second is near optimal.

This paper proposes a method for extracting high-level rules for expository dialogue generation. The rules are extracted from dialogues that have been authored by expert dialogue writers. We examine the rules that can be extracted by this method, focusing on whether different dialogues and authors exhibit different dialogue styles.

Mobile phones with digital cameras have become a common new tool for producing user created video content. In this paper we present a study of 84 participants (teenage girls) who created and authored minimovies using the N73 mobile phone. The participants produced 28 minimovies in a 30-minute period which were then analysed for their structure, style and feature usage.
