Subgroup and stratification analyses have been widely applied in genetic association studies to compare the effects of different factors or control for the effects of the confounding variables associated with a disease. However, studies have not systematically provided application standards and computing methods for stratification analyses. Based on the Mantel-Haenszel and Inverse-Variant appro...

Quantitative trait transmission/disequilibrium tests (quantitative TDTs) are commonly used in family-based genetic association studies of quantitative traits. Despite the availability of various quantitative TDTs, some users are not aware of the properties of these tests and the relationships between them. This review aims at outlining the broad features of the various quantitative TDT procedur...

An Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is a computer system that provides a direct customized instruction or feedback to students while performing a task in a tutoring system without the intervention of a human. One of the modules of an ITS system is student module which helps to understand the student’s learning abilities. Several data mining techniques like association rule mining, clustering a...

In this paper we propose a method for extracting clusters in a population of customers, where the only information available is the list of products bought by the individual clients. We use association rules having high conndence to construct a hierarchical sequence of clusters. A speciic metric is introduced for measuring the quality of the resulting clusterings. Practical consequences are dis...

Performance   evaluation in regular periods is one of the ways in which organizations can   evaluate their performance as well as weak and strong points unifiedly and   precisely. These days, mathematical models are also used to evaluate the   efficiency and productivity of various units. These units are a collection of   education, research and service activities as input and output factors an...

Flowering period and longevity play important roles in determining the quality of commercial flowers. Marker-trait associations for eight flowering and 12 ornamental traits have been studied using a GLM and MLM analysis with a set of 2099 AFLP polymorphic markers in Chrysanthemum. The GLM model identified 453 markers for phenotypic traits whereas the MLM association analysis model revealed a t...

The class of frequent hypergraph mining problems is introduced which includes the frequent graph mining problem class and contains also the frequent itemset mining problem. We study the computational properties of different problems belonging to this class. In particular, besides negative results, we present practically relevant problems that can be solved in incremental-polynomial time. Some o...

This paper aims at exploring aspects of political thinking of Greek adolescents. The focus is on the ways in which 15year-old students conceptualize citizenship and the role of the state, on the basis of research findings related to civic education (CIVED). Students conceptualizations have been identified through factor analysis. The concepts are derived on the basis of students’ responses to t...

In this paper, an experimental comparison of publicly available algorithms for computing intents of all formal concepts and mining frequent closed itemsets is provided. Experiments are performed on real data sets from UCI Machine Learning Repository and FIMI Repository. Results of experiments are discussed at the end of the paper.
