Some patients develop chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs) after the clipping/coating of unruptured aneurysms. The risk factors are not well understood and while no preventive methods are currently available, arachnoid plasty (ARP) may intercept the development of postoperative CSDH. We investigated the risk factors for CSDH and the usefulness of ARP to prevent postoperative CSDH. Between January...
Actin-related proteins (ARPs) are key players in cytoskeleton activities and nuclear functions. Two complexes, ARP2/3 and ARP1/11, also known as dynactin, are implicated in actin dynamics and in microtubule-based trafficking, respectively. ARP4 to ARP9 are components of many chromatin-modulating complexes. Conventional actins and ARPs codefine a large family of homologous proteins, the actin su...
Pulmonary endothelial cell (EC) barrier dysfunction and recovery is critical to the pathophysiology of acute respiratory distress syndrome. Cytoskeletal and subsequent cell membrane dynamics play a key mechanistic role in determination of EC barrier integrity. Here, we characterizAQe the actin related protein 2/3 (Arp 2/3) complex, a regulator of peripheral branched actin polymerization, in hum...
Background: With industrial development, many production processes emit high levels of noise, presenting problems for society. This emission causes an environmental impact on employees and also on the surrounding environment. Materials and Methods: The present study was performed with the objective of analyzing the noise emission in a plastic recycling plant in the municipality of Caçador, San...
ABSTRACT We study two M 51-type systems Arp 68 and 58, which strongly differ by their stellar masses, gas content, environment. Long-slit spectral observations obtained at the Russian 6-m telescope were used to trace distributions of a line-of-sight (LOS) velocity gas-phase oxygen abundance along cuts. Two are compared observed properties. found very strong large-scale non-circular motion in bo...
The Kalman Filter developed in the early sixties by R.E. Kalman [7, 8] is a recursive state estimator for partially observed non-stationary stochastic processes. It gives an optimal estimate in the least squares sense of the actual value of a state vector from noisy observations. Consider a discrete-time stochastic process x k+1 = f (x k , u k , v k) (1) with system input u and unmodeled proces...
This paper presents a scalability and load balancing study of the All-Path protocols, a family of distributed switching protocols based on path exploration. ARP-Path is the main protocol and it explores every possible path reaching from source to destination by using ARP messages, selecting the lowest latency path. Flow-Path and Bridge-Path are respectively the flow-based and bridge-based versi...
We study algorithms and lower bounds for k-selection and sorting in the SINR model. For the problem of finding the k-th smallest value in the network, we provide a O(log n) algorithm based on the aggregation trees presented in [3]. We argue that any algorithm using this approach has runtime Ω(log n/ log log n). We show that sorting can be done in Θ(n) time slots.
The paper describes recent work to improve the safety process for aero-engine controllers. The role of FMEA is discussed in the context of the safety and certification processes, with reference to ARP 4754 and ARP 4761. Whilst the ARPs' emphasis on top-down hazard-driven approaches is valuable, it is concluded that the role of FMEA should not be down-played. Instead it should be recognized that...
