We present the first case of 45 year-old male with an incidental non-symptomatic right common iliac artery pseudoaneurysm with concomitant aortic ectasia in the setting of severe alcoholic pancreatitis and a horseshoe kidney diagnosed by CT and MRA. Such findings would have posed significant difficulty during an open approach precluding safe surgical repair. Therefore, an exclusion endovascular...

Esophageal perforation is a condition associated with high morbidity and mortality rates; it requires early diagnosis and treatment. The most common complication of esophageal rupture is mediastinitis. There are several case reports in the literature of mediastinitis secondary to esophageal perforation and development of aortic pseudoaneurysm as a complication. We report the case of a patient w...

BACKGROUND We report successful treatment of a patient 6 years after ascending aorta and aortic valve replacement suffering from a combination of two pseudoaneurysms. The first of them originated from the coronary ostial suture line and the second pseudoaneurysm originated from the distal suture line. METHODS We performed re-replantation of the left main trunk to the prosthesis and then we re...

A 36-year-old patient was referred because of fatigue and decreased exercise tolerance 20 years after separate aortic valve replacement and aortic root reconstruction. The presence of a loud systolic ejection murmur and persistent left ventricular hypertrophy led to the diagnosis of severe supravalvular aortic flow obstruction by indirect compression of a large pseudoaneurysm.

Aortic pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication after blunt chest trauma or cardiac surgical procedures and can occur at the site of cannulation or root vent insertion on the ascending aorta. These pseudoaneurysms have the potential to expand, erode, and rupture, and detecting this condition before complications occur is the key to successful management. We had replaced the mitral valve with a 31-...

The Medtronic freestyle aortic root bioprosthesis (Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, USA) is a stentless valve with an effective orifice area that is larger than that observed on other bioprostheses. However, there have been sporadic reports of structural valve deterioration (SVD), such as aortic root wall rupture, leaflet tearing, and pseudoaneurysm formation. We report five cases of SVD of fr...

Diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm of the aorta or its main branches is a challenge in patients with blunt chest trauma. Computed tomography helps to demonstrate intrathoracic hemorrhage and suspected great vascular injury when a chest radiograph reveals widening of the mediastinum. Aortic angiography remains the gold standard in the determination of the site, and severity of vascular injury for defin...

Pseudoaneurysm after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is very rare. We report a case of thoracic aortic pseudoaneurysms due to flares at the proximal end of a stent graft after TEVAR for ductal aneurysm. We describe a total aortic arch replacement in this case using a modified cuffed anastomosis technique with an elephant trunk procedure leaving the partial stent graft in situ.

Case 1: An 85-year-old man with a history of ischemic cardiomyopathy and recent reoperation coronary bypass surgery was noted on a routine follow-up echocardiogram to have a 25 25-mm fluid-filled extracardiac mass adjacent to the basal inferolateral wall of the left ventricle (Figure 1). Cardiac computed tomography (CT) identified the structure to be a pseudoaneurysm of a saphenous vein graft t...

BACKGROUND Aortic intramural hematoma (IMH) evolves very dynamically in the short-term to regression, dissection, or aortic rupture. The aim of the present study was to assess the long-term clinical and morphological evolution of medically treated IMH. METHODS AND RESULTS Fifty of 68 consecutive patients with aortic IMH monitored clinically and by imaging techniques at 3, 6, and 12 months and...
