Both, adaptive antenna arrays for ISI cancellation and non-linear hard limiter receivers are well known as key technologies for high data rate low-cost receivers [1][2]. However, the combination of both technologies is a big challenge since non-linear receivers only provide phase or frequency samples. The amplitude information, which is required for the adaptation of the antenna array, is not a...

Antenna arrays have been used for various applications in wireless communications, Radar, satellite communications and mobile communications. Low sidelobe antenna arrays are need to be designed for increasing the efficiency of the communication systems. In this paper, an enhanced version of particle swarm optimization (PSO) known as improved local search particle swarm optimization (ILSPSO) is ...

Terahertz antenna arrays supporting narrow lattice resonances are proposed as an alternative sensor-on-chip approach to liquid sensing. An array of metallic rectangular antennas fabricated on a polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) substrate is used to demonstrate the sensing of a number of fluids. Good agreement is shown between experiment and simulation with Q-factors of around 20 and a figure-of-me...

This paper presents a novel design of dual polarized space-fed antenna arrays with broad bandwidth and high isolation between two orthogonal ports. The dual polarized space-fed antenna arrays are designed with bottom radiating element electromagnetically coupled to two orthogonal open microstrip lines and top parasitic elements excited by the radiation from bottom radiating element, without any...

The use of multi-antenna arrays has been predicted to provide substantial throughput gains for wireless communication systems. However, these predictions have to be assessed in realistic situations, such as correlated channels and in the presence of interference. In this review, we show results obtained using methods borrowed from statistical physics of random media for the average and the vari...

We study the relation between antenna spacing and capacity of MIMO channels for indoor environments using a ray tracing program. It has been confirmed also by measurements that in rich scattering environments an antenna spacing below 0.5λ is sufficient to reach nearly the full capacity predicted for multiple-antenna arrays in ideal and uncorrelated Rayleigh fading channels.

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication and network densification hold great promise for achieving highrate communication in next-generation wireless networks. Cloud radio access network (CRAN), in which low-complexity remote radio heads (RRHs) coordinated by a central unit (CU) are deployed to serve users in a distributed manner, is a costeffective solution to achieve network densification. How...

During the past few decades, there has been growing interest in the use of microwave and millimeter wave radiometers for remote sensing of the Earth. Due to the need of large antennas and scanning mechanism, the conventional real aperture radiometer becomes infeasible for high spatial resolution application. Interferometric aperture synthesis was suggested as an alternative to real aperture rad...

The progressive improvement of the feed networks and the continuous reduction of their cost have permitted the usage of nonuniform antenna arrays with fewer difficulties. One of the promising methods for the design of the above nonuniform antenna arrays is the Orthogonal Method (OM). ORAMA is a computer tool based on OM and designed for synthesis of linear antenna arrays on the Microsoft Window...

This paper describes “Variable 0 Z ,” a novel and proprietary approach to antenna design and optimization. The new methodology is illustrated by applying it to the design of a resistively-loaded bowtie antenna and two broadband Yagi-Uda arrays. Variable 0 Z is applicable to any antenna design or optimization methodology. Using it will result in generally better antenna designs across any usersp...
