coronary artery disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. in this study, we compared two surgical methods of left internal mammary artery (lima) anastomosis on left anterior descending (lad) artery in patients with severe diffuse lesions. a total of 40 patients were included in our study and randomly assigned into two groups. in group a, after a long arteriotomy on lad, the posterior sur...

in this theoretical study, the effect of various types of bypass graft angles on the flow field, has been investigated specially on the temporal wall shear stress (wss) on the toe, heel and some locations on the bed of the left anterior descending (lad) artery at the anastomoses areas in the aorto-coronary (ac) and coronary-coronary (cc) bypasses. flow fields in both bypasses with angles of 20º...

PURPOSE Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery represents the standard treatment of advanced coronary artery disease. Two major types of anastomosis exist to connect the graft to the coronary artery, i.e., by using an end-to-side or a side-to-side anastomosis. There is still controversy because of the differences in the patency rates of the two types of anastomosis. The purpose of this pap...

We focused on abdominal aorta, clamped and transected bellow renal arteries, and aortic termino-terminal anastomosis created in Albino male rats. We suggested stomach cytoprotection theory holding endothelium protection and peptidergic anti-ulcer cytoprotection therapy to improve management of abdominal aorta anastomosis and thrombus formation. The stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 (GEPPP...

Abstract Venous anastomosis with a coupler device is an effective alternative to the hand-sewn technique. Twist in veins following troublesome complication that needs revision of venous anastomosis. The author proposes simple technique reduce incidence this complication. This particularly useful head and neck reconstruction for beginners initial part learning curve.

PURPOSE Pelvic sepsis is a serious complication after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis that may lead to pouch failure or poor function. Although a temporary loop ileostomy may be created at the time of ileal pouch-anal anastomosis to prevent or minimize the consequences of an anastomotic leak, research has suggested that an ileostomy can be safely omitted in selected patients...

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic gastrectomy has recently been gaining popularity as a treatment for cancer; however, little is known about the benefits of intracorporeal (IC) gastrointestinal anastomosis with pure laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (LDG) compared with extracorporeal (EC) anastomosis with laparoscopy-assisted distal gastrectomy (LADG). METHODS Between June 2000 and December 2011, we asse...

OBJECTIVE In gracilis functioning free muscle transplantation, the limited caliber of the dominant vascular pedicle increases the complexity of the anastomosis and the risk of vascular compromise. The purpose of this study was to characterize the results of using a T-shaped vascular pedicle for flow-through anastomosis in gracilis functioning free muscle transplantation for brachial plexus inju...

Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation is frequently complicated by intraoperative and postoperative bleeding, particularly at the aortic anastomosis site. Many modifications of the anastomosis have been attempted. We describe a simple method to anastomose the LVAD outflow tract to the ascending aorta with minimal bleeding and a short anastomosis time.
