Both the inherent intractability and complex beauty of turbulence reside in its large range of physical and temporal scales. This range of scales is captured by the Reynolds number, which in nature and in many engineering applications can be as large as 10(5)-10(6). Here, we report turbulence measurements over an unprecedented range of Reynolds numbers using a unique combination of a high-press...

Annual and seasonal statistics of local air pressure characteristics have already been used as proxies for storminess across Northern Europe. We present an update of such proxies for Northern Europe and an unprecedented analysis for Central Europe which together considerably extends the current knowledge of European storminess. Calculations are completed for three sets of stations, located in N...

The Stirling Cycle is one of the thermodynamic cycles that is close to Carnot cycle in term of theory, and these advantages cause to using Stirling engines in wide industries. The main objective of this research is experimental investigation of Stirling Gamma engine for refrigeration. In this investigation, effect of working fluid air and helium, operatring pressure of working fluid and dynamo ...

In this study a computerised system was used which continuously measured air pressure, interface pressure and pressure-time cycle characteristics of an alternating pressure air cushion (APAC), and calculated the time the interface pressure remained below three chosen thresholds of 20, 40 and 60 mm Hg. Ten healthy volunteers were used to evaluate the pressure relieving characteristics of four AP...

Our paper addresses the question of covariation between intraoral air pressure and size of contact area between tongue and palate during the articulation of the Norwegian stop consonants /t/ and /d/. An EPG investigation of the two plosives shows a larger contact area between tongue and palate for /t/ than for /d/. An investigation of intraoral air pressure during the articulation of the two pl...

A model of the trumpet has been studied in which the NavierStokes equations are used to calculate the air pressure and velocity, while the lips are described using the swinging lip model of Adachi and Sato. This approach allows us to determine the pressure throughout the lip region, and thus calculate the lip motion without the approximations necessary in previous modeling work.

Two studies were conducted to evaluate short-latency vocal tract air pressure responses to sudden pressure bleeds during production of voiceless bilabial stop consonants. It was hypothesized that the occurrence of respiratory reflexes would be indicated by distinct patterns of responses as a function of bleed magnitude. In Study 1, 19 adults produced syllable trains of "puh" using a mouthpiece ...

In this paper, the methodology of aircraft air distribution system has been analyzed theoretically and experimentally. To achieve that, ducting pressure loss and air flow throw gaspers calculations has been done for cabin ducts in according to exact location of individual air distribution system in the cabin. The length of gasper air flow was compared with the distance between gasper outlet and...
