In this lecture, we present the principles of space-time adaptive processing (STAP) for radar, applied to moving target indication. We discuss the properties of optimum STAP, as well as problems associated with estimating the adaptive weights not encountered with spatial-only processing (i.e. beamforming).
This tutorial provides an introduction to the application of knowledge-based processing to the general radar problem. We interpret knowledge-based processing as the use of adaptivity and the exploitation of prior knowledge in such a way as to choose the optimum processing method in each case, and we interpret the general radar problem as the detection, classification and tracking of targets aga...
in this paper, we deal with the problem of clutter and direct signal (c&ds;) cancelation in the target detection of tv-based passive radars. we first consider the target detection using the conventional fft method. we see that for increasing the maximum range of passive radar, we must cancel the c&ds; from the received signal. hence, we investigate some important methods for c&ds; cancelation i...

Research Corporation (SRC), where I worked on radar systems engineering, signal processing, and system simulation. The first radar system that I worked on was a man-portable battlefield surveillance radar, to be used by military intelligence units of the United States Army. That radar system was necessarily small and simple, and therefore did not possess large computational ability. Mechanical ...
SPACE/TIME/FREQUENCY METHODS IN ADAPTIVE RADAR by Christopher D. Peckham Radar systems may be processed with various space, time and frequency techniques. Advanced radar systems are required to detect targets in the presence of jamming and clutter. This work studies the application of two types of radar systems. It is well known that targets moving along-track within a Synthetic Aperture Radar ...
We consider a problem of high-resolution array radar/SAR imaging formalized in terms of a nonlinear ill-posed inverse problem of nonparametric estimation of the power spatial spectrum pattern (SSP) of the random wavefield scattered from a remotely sensed scene observed through a kernel signal formation operator and contaminated with random Gaussian noise. First, the Sobolev-type solution space ...
