We develop adaptive channel estimation techniques for space–time block–coded (STBC) multiple–input multiple– output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communications. The structure of the space–time code is exploited to lower the complexity of the adaptive receiver.

First, this paper introduces the concept and the upcoming features of Asynchronous Adaptive Hypermedia Systems (AAHS). The design of a concrete system will show how the new principles can successfully be applied to build a generic adaptive help module which can be put on top of existing adaptive or non-adaptive web application without the need of refactoring.

In this paper, adaptive coding schemes for contour line drawings based on chain code representation is presented. In this scheme, the chain code or the chain-difference code of a contour is modeled as an n-order Markov sequence and then coded with arithmetic coding scheme adaptively. Experimental result shows that the proposed approach is better than some other conventional approaches.

A new MHD code has been developed for massively parallel computers using adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) and a new 8-wave Riemann solver. The code was implemented on a Cray T3D massively parallel computer with 512 PEs. In the first application, which modeled the expansion of the solar wind from the solar surface, the code achieved 13 GFLOPS.
