Introduction: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia worldwide. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is often the prodromal stage to AD. Most patients with MCI harbor the pathologic changes of AD and demonstrate transition to AD at a rate of 10–15% per year. Accumulating evidence indicates that the asymmetry changes of left and right brain have happened in the early stage of A...

Classically, ascending aortic dissection (AD) presents as sudden, severe chest pain that is tearing type and radiates to the back. Herein, we present a rare case of severe aortic regurgitation with silent ascending AD, which had no chest pain symptoms. The aortic valve apparatus probably masked this AD; therefore, it was not detected by echocardiography and during the surgery.

Background and objective: Insulin and its receptor are located in the central nervous system where it regulates many important processes such as neural proliferation, apoptosis, synaptic transmission, neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, learning and memory. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the accumulation of extracellular amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques, and intracellular aggregation of...

alzheimer’s disease (ad) is the most common cause of dementia caused by complicated interactions between genetic and environmental factors. molecular genetic research has provided valuable information regarding the genetic etiology of the disease. identifying the genetics of ad not only could shed light on disease pathogenesis, but it may also provide potential targets for effective treatment, ...

Objective(s): Growing evidence suggests that dysfunction of the glutamatergic system and α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoazolepropionic acid (AMPA) receptors are involved in pathology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Because AMPA receptors play a key role in plasticity synaptic regulation, positive modulation of these receptors may rescue the cognitive deficits in the AD. The aim of this study was ...
