the reaction of 3-chloropropyl boehmite nanoparticles with caffeine and sulfuric acid afforded bnps-3-propyl-imidazolopyridinium hydrogen sulfate [bnps-caff]hso4 as a new bnps-supported ionic liquid (il) catalyst. [bnps-caff]hso4 proved to be an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of pyrazolopyranopyrimidines via a one-pot four-component reaction of hydrazine hydrate, ethyl aceto...

The transesterification reaction, and in particular the methanolysis of ethyl acetate with sulfuric acid as catalyst, is used as a model reaction to study the acid-catalyzed nucleophilic addition to a carbonyl group. Continuum solvation methods (SMD and IEF-PCM) and the MPWB1K functional are used. The reaction mechanism is studied in methanol and in acetonitrile as solvents. Our results indicat...

A series of acid-labile, optically pure ε-substituted δ-ketal-β-hydroxy esters were obtained by a Ru-SunPhos catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of the corresponding ε-substituted δ-ketal-β-keto esters. CaCO(3) played a dual role in the hydrogenation reaction--removing the acid generated during the formation of the catalyst and maintaining the activity of the catalyst.

This paper describes an eco-friendly and efficient direct amidation of benzylamine and phenylacetic acid derivatives in the presence of 10 mol% NiCl2 as catalyst without any drying agent. For the different phenylacetic acid and benzylamine derivatives, the direct catalysed amidation gave moderate-to-excellent yields in toluene. The steric and electronic effects of substituent groups on the phen...

Abstraet--Jordanian natural kaolin and bentonite show good catalytic activity towards debutylating 2tert-butylphenol, and varying debutylation vs. isomerization selectivity after acid activation. The resulting catalytic activity of these samples is dependent on the acid employed for activation; the samples treated with acetic acid showed relatively low conversions, whereas those treated with hy...

The one-step dehydration, decarboxylation and hydrogenation of the bio-based and widely available citric acid is presented. This reaction sequence yields methylsuccinic acid with yields of up to 89%. Optimal balances between the reaction rates of the different steps were found by varying the hydrogenation catalyst and the reaction parameters (H2 pressure, pH, temperature, time and catalyst-to-s...

The reaction of 3-mercaptopropylsilica (MPS) and chlorosulfonic acid in chloroform afforded silica bonded S-sulfonic acid (SBSSA), which was used as a catalyst for the room temperature synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives from 1,2-diamino compounds and 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds. The catalyst could be recycled and reused several times without any loss of efficiency.

In the presence of a Brønsted acid catalyst, both aldehydes and N-Boc-aminals were converted to enecarbamates and N-Boc-iminium salts as activated nucleophiles and electrophiles, respectively, giving unprecedented Mannich adducts. The asymmetric variant of the present Mannich reaction has also been demonstrated with a chiral phosphoric acid catalyst.
