Urtica dioica L. (U. dioica) has been traditionally used in Iranian medicine as an herbal remedy for hypoglycemic or due to its anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of the present study was to evaluate...
Abstract Background and Objective: Vascular abnormality and dysfunction plays an important role in the pathogenesis of vascular disease in diabetic state. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether an in vitro exposure of endothelium-intact aortic rings to Melissa officinalis (lemon balm, MO) aqueous extract could have a beneficial effect in rats with subchronic diabetes. Materials and Meth...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Emerging evidence suggests that atrial disease is associated with vascular brain injury in the absence of atrial fibrillation. Among participants who underwent MRI, we examined associations of ECG left atrial abnormality with brain infarcts and leukoaraiosis. P-wave ...
We report a case of bilateral dolichoectasia of the anterior cerebral arteries in a 14-year-old girl as documented by MR imaging and cerebral angiography. Concurrent thickening of the adjacent medial frontal lobes was found, suggesting either a neuronal migrational abnormality or secondary changes attributable to vascular insufficiency.
A preterm infant fed parenterally through a central venous catheter developed a subdural effusion containing fat emulsion. Subsequent postmortem examination failed to demonstrate any vascular abnormality that might have explained this rarely reported complication. Although retrograde flow of feeding solutions into cerebral veins seems a likely explanation, the exact mechanism remains uncertain.
