Let U be the classical unital in PG(2, q2) secant to `∞. By deriving PG(2, q) with respect to a derivation set disjoint from U we obtain a new unital U ′ in the Hall plane of order q2. We show that this unital contains O’Nan configurations and is not isomorphic to the known unitals of the Hall plane, hence it forms a new class of unitals in the Hall plane.
This is the first in a series of papers highlighting applications reduced and coreduced modules. Let $R$ be commutative unital ring $I$ an ideal $R$. We show that $I$-reduced $R$-modules $I$-coreduced provide setting which Matlis-Greenless-May (MGM) Equivalence Greenless-May (GM) Duality hold. These two notions have been hitherto only known to exist derived category setting. realise $I$-torsion...
We introduce and launch a study of compression bases in unital groups. The family of all compressions on a compressible group and the family of all direct compressions on a unital group are examples of compression bases. In this article we show that the properties of the compatibility relation in a compressible group generalize to unital groups with compression bases. AMS Classification: Primar...
We give some new characterizations, of unitaries, isometries, unital operator spaces, unital function spaces, operator systems, C-algebras, and related objects. Several characterizations of these objects are already known; see e.g. [15, Theorem 9.5.16], [1], the discussion on p. 316 of [4], [14], and [13]. One difference between our paper and these cited references, is that our results only use...
A linear mapping T from a subspace E of a Banach algebra into another Banach algebra is called spectrally bounded if there is a constant M ≥ 0 such that r(Tx) ≤ M r(x) for all x ∈ E, where r( · ) denotes the spectral radius. We prove that every spectrally bounded unital operator from a unital purely infinite simple C∗-algebra onto a unital semisimple Banach algebra is a Jordan epimorphism.
let a be a unital r-algebra and m be a unital a-bimodule. it is shown that every jordan derivation of the trivial extension of a by m, under some conditions, is the sum of a derivation and an antiderivation.
Let C = C(X) be the unital C*-algebra of all continuous functions on a finite CW complex X and let A be a unital simple C*-algebra with tracial rank at most one. We show that two unital monomorphisms φ,ψ : C → A are asymptotically unitarily equivalent, i.e., there exists a continuous path of unitaries {ut : t ∈ [0, 1)} ⊂ A such that lim t→1 utφ(f)ut = ψ(f) for all f ∈ C(X),
The aim of this notes is to provide basic information about commutative Banach algebras. The final goal is to show that a unital, commutative complex Banach algebra A can be embedded as subalgebra of C(MA), the algebra of continuous functions on a w∗-compact setMA, known as the maximal ideal space or character space. Also, the non unital commutative complex Banach algebra can be embedded as a s...
The corona algebra M(A)/A contains essential information on the global structure of A, as demonstrated for instance by Busby theory. It is an interesting and surprisingly difficult task to determine the ideal structure of M(A)/A by means of the internal structure of A. Toward this end, we generalize Freudenthal’s classical theory of ends of topological spaces to a large class of C∗-algebras. Ho...
