This work was accomplished to assess the rainfall probability density function (pdf) of Katsina State and adopt most parsimonious using 2003 –2018 data from Nigeria Institute Meteorological Services. The were subjected cleaning, descriptive statistics investigation five distribution functions (General pareto, general extreme value, Gumbel maximum, Uniform Normal distribution) through parameteri...

We consider the problem of allocating an infinitely divisible commodity among a group of agents with single-peaked preferences. A rule that has played a central role in the analysis of the problem is the so-called uniform rule. Chun (2001) proves that the uniform rule is the only rule satisfying Pareto optimality, no-envy, separability, and -continuity. We obtain an alternative characterization...

A new distribution called the beta-generalized Pareto is proposed. Several properties of this distribution are presented. The expressions for the mean, mean deviation, variance, and entropies are obtained. The method of maximum likelihood is proposed to estimate the parameters of the distribution. The flexibility of this distribution is illustrated in an application to a real data set.

Abstract: The Pareto probability distribution is widely applied in different fields such us finance, physics , hydrology , geology and astronomy. This note deals with an application of the Pareto distribution to astrophysics and more precisely to the statistical analysis of mass of stars and of diameters of asteroids. In particular a comparison between the usual Pareto distribution and its trun...

In this paper, a bi-objective pharmaceutical supply chain network under uncertainty demand and transportation costs is modeled and developed. To control the uncertainty parameters, the robust optimization method is considering. The main objective of this paper determines the number and location of potential facilities such as drug manufacture centers and drug distribution centers by considering...

The spatial pooling method such as spatial pyramid matching (SPM) is very crucial in the bag of features model used in image classification. SPM partitions the image into a set of regular grids and assumes that the spatial layout of all visual words obey the uniform distribution over these regular grids. However, in practice, we consider that different visual words should obey different spatial...

At primary school the first author was taught to estimate the area of a (convex) body by drawing it on a piece of graph paper, and then counting the number of (unit) squares inside. There is obviously a little ambiguity in deciding how to count the squares which straddle the boundary. Whatever the protocol, if the boundary is more-or-less smooth then the number of squares in question is proport...

Since the seismic behavior of the earth’s energy (which follows from the power law distribution) can be similarly seen in the energy realized by the stock markets, in this paper we consider a statistical study for comparing the financial crises and the earthquakes. For this end, the TP statistic, proposed by Pisarenko and et al. (2004), is employed for estimating the critical point or the lower...

Material adapted repair technologies for fiber-reinforced polymers with thermosetting matrix systems are currently characterized by requiring major efforts for repair preparation and accomplishment in all industrial areas of application. In order to allow for a uniform distribution of material and geometrical parameters over the repair zone, a novel composite interlock repair concept is introdu...

Recent work suggests that Cournot oligopolists competing in a spatial model, with a uniform distribution of consumers, agglomerate in the center of the market. In this paper we analyze the robustness of this result with a general symmetric distribution of consumers and show that if the population density is "too thin" at the center of the market, then Cournot competition does not yield spatial ...
