The estimation algorithm plays an important role in a radar tracking system. An improved estimation approach using both quantity data and target feature is investigated in this article. The advantage of this approach is that the system will have better estimation based on more target information. A data association denoted one-step conditional maximum likelihood algorithm is applied to match be...
The post-deinterleaving radar pulse train problem requires estimation of the parameters and tracking of the individual pulse trains. A simple recurrent back-propagation neural network is used based on a simple state space time series formulation of the radar problem. The network incorporates a novel hueristic adap-tive error threshold that allows simultaneously good tracking and parameter estim...
This paper is devoted to the study of mathematical models for the refracted propagation effects and their correction for airborne radar tracking. Given an atmosphere of varying refracted index, the path of the EM radiation is curved and this causes bias errors on range and elevation radar measurements. First, we model these atmospheric errors and then we generate the corrupted measures. Second,...
There are several types of ultra wideband (UWB) radar systems which can be used with advantage for the purpose of detection and tracking of persons moving behind obstacles. The intention of this paper is to test in real conditions performance of an impulse UWB radar in comparison with an M-sequence UWB radar for the mentioned application. For that purpose a through-wall measurement with two per...
This paper presents a method of imaging a two-dimensional section of a walking person using multiple ultra-wideband Doppler radar systems. By exploiting multipath echoes, we can increase the effective number of radar systems virtually. Although each simple radar system consists of only two receivers, different line-of-sight velocities allow target positions to be separated and located. The data...
Tracking multiple maneuvering targets for automotive radar is a vital issue. To this end, a novel DS-UKGMPHD algorithm which combines diagraph switching (DS), unscented Kalman (UK) filter and Gaussian mixture probability hypothesis density (GMPHD) filter is proposed in this paper. The algorithm is capable of tracking a varying number of target cars detected by automotive radar with nonlinear me...
Today multiple multi-sensor airborne surveillance systems are available which comprises of primary radar and secondary surveillance radar as the active sensor on board. The electronics and communication support measure system (ECSMS) will aid in identification, detection and classification of targets. These systems will detect, identify, classify the different threats present in the surveillanc...
In this paper we report on t h e relationship between track update intervals and track accuracy in a Multifunction phased array radar system. Strategies for selecting the update rate are highlighted and the degradation o f performance as update rate reduces is demonstrated. It is shown that using suitable techniques considerable radar resources can be liberated f o r non-tracking tasks.
This paper describes the detection of moving obstacles using laser radar in road environments. This application is designed to be implemented in further research on data fusion technologies. The developed application uses only a laser radar which provides information to sort objects according to their shape and movement. The subsequent detection and classification provide higher level tracking.
In this paper we present a new automated, radar based tool for thunderstorms nowcasting called TRT (Thunderstorms Radar Tracking). The goal of this real-time tool is the automated detection, tracking and characterization of intense convective precipitation systems. TRT uses the reflectivity data of the composite image of the Swiss radar network. The algorithm is based on an adaptive thresholdin...
