A vertical component broadband (BB) seismometer, based on design ideas from numerous sources, was developed and fabricated by an amateur instrument builder in a home workshop using commonly available materials. The seismometer had a flat velocity response between 0.017-4 Hz, and sensitive enough to detect teleseismic events of magnitude 5.5 and greater from most places on earth.
S U M M A R Y We perform a systematic survey of triggered deep ‘non-volcanic’ tremor beneath the Central Range (CR) in Taiwan for 45 teleseismic earthquakes from 1998 to 2009 with Mw ≥ 7.5 and epicentral distance≥1000 km to the broad-band station TPUB. Triggered tremors are visually identified as bursts of high-frequency (2–8 Hz), non-impulsive and long-duration seismic energy that are coherent...
A large strike-slip earthquake occurred in the Caribbean Sea on 28 January 2020. We inverted teleseismic P-waveforms from to construct a finite-fault model by new method of inversi...
[1] We introduce a coherence measure for seismic signal enhancement through incoherent noise attenuation. Our processing tool is designed for densely spaced arrays and identifies signals by their coherent appearance. The approach is based on the determination of the lateral phase coherence as function of distance, time, frequency, and slowness. The coherence is derived from the local phases of ...
