Strongly Fejér monotone mappings are widely used to solve convex problems by corresponding iterative methods. Here the maximal of such mappings with respect to set inclusion of the images are investigated. These mappings supply restriction zones for the successors of Fejér monotone iterative methods. The basic tool is the representation of the images by intersection of certain balls.

Our work deals with the important problem of globally characterizing truthful mechanisms where players have multi-parameter, additive valuations, like scheduling unrelated machines or additive combinatorial auctions. Very few mechanisms are known for these settings and the question is: Can we prove that no other truthful mechanisms exist? We characterize truthful mechanisms for n players and 2 ...

We establish a convergence property for pseudo-bounded forward orbits of strongly monotone skew-product semiflows with invariant phase-translation group actions. The results are then applied to obtain global convergence of certain chemical reaction networks whose induced systems in reaction coordinates are monotone, as well as the dynamics of certain reaction-diffusion systems, in time-recurren...

In this paper, we suggest and analyze both explicit and implicit iterative schemes for two strongly positive operators and a nonexpansive mapping S on a Hilbert space. We also study explicit and implicit versions of iterative schemes for an inverse-strongly monotone mapping T and S by an extragradient-like approximation method. The viscosity approximation methods are employed to establish stron...

In this paper we use the theory of monotone operators to generalize the linear shell model presented in (Blouza and Le Dret, 1999) to a class of physically nonlinear models. We present a family of nonlinear constitutive equations, for which we prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the presented nonlinear model, as well as the convergence of the Galerkin method. We also present t...

This paper stresses the role of co-coercivity and related notions in the convergence of iterative schemes for solving monotone, but not necessarily strongly or even strictly monotone variational inequalities. The analysis will be conducted within the conceptual framework of the \auxiliary problem principle".

In this paper we generalise a useful result due to J. Mierczyński which states that for a strictly cooperative system on the positive orthant, with increasing first integral, all bounded orbits are convergent. Moreover any equilibrium attracts its entire level set, and there can be no more than one equilibrium on any level set. Here, more general state spaces and more general orderings are cons...
