Polarized neutron study of the spin dynamics for a Heisenberg antiferromagnet with easy-axis anisotropy, CsNiCl3, clearly demonstrates the almost isotropic character of the system. The study also revealed a difference between the observed and the calculated spin wave dispersion using the classical spin wave theory for T << 4.8 K and T > 4.8 K. This may be interpreted as a quantum effect on the ...

The renormalization-group method is used to analyze the low-temperature behaviour of a two-dimentional, spin-s quantum Heisenberg ferromagnet. A set of recursion equations is derived in an one-loop approximation. The lowtemperature asymptotics of the correlation length and the uniform susceptibility are obtained. For small spins (s = 1/2, 1) the results are essentialy different from those in th...

We present perturbative corrections to a recently introduced spin–flip self-consistent field ~SF-SCF! wave function. The spin–flip model describes both closed and open shell singlet states within a single reference formalism as spin–flipping, e.g., a→b , excitations from a triplet (M s51) reference state for which both dynamical and nondynamical correlation effects are much smaller than for the...

We show that spin-density separation in a Bose gas is not restricted to 1D but also occurs in higher dimensions. The ratio (alpha) of the intraspecies atom-atom interaction strength to the interspecies interaction strength strongly influences the dynamics of spin-density separation and the elementary excitations. The density wave is phononlike for all values of alpha. For alpha < 1, the spin wa...

The chaotic self-generation of short solitary spin wave pulses has been observed for the first time. The pulses were produced from parametrically excited spin waves in an yttrium-iron-garnet film in an active feedback ring under conditions where both three-wave and four-wave parametric processes were allowed. The power-frequency spectrum was broadband and chaotic.

We show that an electric field parallel to the wave fronts of an electron-hole grating in a GaAs quantum well generates, via the electronic spin Hall effect, a spin grating of the same wave vector and with an amplitude that can exceed 1% of the amplitude of the initial density grating. We refer to this phenomenon as the "collective spin Hall effect." A detailed study of the coupled spin-charge ...

Miniaturization of magnonic devices for wave-like computing requires emission of short-wavelength spin waves, a key feature that cannot be achieved with microwave antennas. In this paper, we propose a tunable source of short-wavelength spin waves based on highly localized and strongly pinned magnetic domain walls in ferroelectric-ferromagnetic bilayers. When driven into oscillation by a microwa...

Spin wave pulse propagation in a magnetic thin film under static, spatially nonuniform magnetic fields has been studied. The experiment was carried out with an yttrium iron garnet film strip. The film strip was magnetized with a spatially nonuniform magnetic field parallel to the length of the film strip. Spin wave pulses were excited with a microstrip transducer at one end of the film strip. T...

The analysis of isolated spin-wave packets is crucial for the understanding of magnetic transport phenomena and is particularly interesting for applications in spintronic and magnonic devices, where isolated spin-wave packets implement an information processing scheme with negligible residual heat loss. We have captured microscale magnetization dynamics of single spin-wave packets in metallic f...

We describe measurements of spin dynamics in the two-dimensional electron gas in GaAs/GaAlAs quantum wells. Optical techniques, including transient spin-grating spectroscopy, are used to probe the relaxation rates of spin polarization waves in the wave vector range from zero to 6x10(4) cm-1. We find that the spin polarization lifetime is maximal at a nonzero wave vector, in contrast with expect...
