The concept of nanotechnologies is based on size-dependent properties of particles in the 1-100 nm range. However, the relation between the particle size and biological effects is still unclear. The aim of the current paper was to generate and analyse a homogenous set of experimental toxicity data on Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs) of similar coating (citrate) but of 5 different primary sizes (10, 20...

Different biological methods are gaining recognition for the production of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) due to their multiple applications. The use of plants in the synthesis of nanoparticles emerges as a cost effective and eco-friendly approach. In the present study, the synthesis of silver nanoparticles by using Ziziphora tenuior L of water extraction was carried out. For this purpose the wa...

The present work investigates the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) by biological method using Bacillus thuringiensis. The MIC test was performed to test the inhibitory concentration of AgNO3 against B. thuringiensis and B. subtilis. Silver nanoparticles were successfully synthesized from B. thuringiensis by green synthesis method. The detailed characterization of the Ag NPs was carrie...

background: in recent years, silver nanoparticles due to their antimicrobial properties, have formed about 56% of nanoparticles global production. since the released nanoparticles ultimately enter water ecosystems, their maximum toxic effects are magnified in aquatic ecosystems. the aim of this study is to show how salinity can decrease the toxic effects of silver nanoparticles on exposed rainb...

A novel fluorescence turn-on strategy for glucose sensing is demonstrated. The fluorescence of a perylene probe could be quenched by the silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs). The Ag NPs could be etched by H2O2 generated from the enzymatic oxidation of glucose. And efficient probe fluorescence recovery was detected.

Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) readily transform in the environment, which modifies their properties and alters their transport, fate, and toxicity. It is essential to consider such transformations when assessing the potential environmental impact of Ag-NPs. This review discusses the major transformation processes of Ag-NPs in various aqueous environments, particularly transformations of the met...

Background: Nanoparticles (NPs) are colloidal systems with particles ranging from 10 to 100 nm in diameter. Because of their large surface-volume ratio, NPs are biologically active materials that could interact with biomolecules and microorganisms, enter into the cells, and affect the metabolic functions. The study aimed to biosynthesize silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) from Capparis spinosa fruit...

We report controllable assembly of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) for patterning of silver microstructures. The assembly is induced by femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW). A tightly focused femtosecond laser beam is capable of trapping and driving Ag NPs to form desired micropatterns with a high resolution of ∼190 nm. Taking advantage of the 'direct writing' feature, three microelectrodes h...

The antibacterial properties of nanoparticles (NPs) can be significantly enhanced by increasing the wettability or solubility of NPs in aqueous medium. In this study, we investigated the effects of the stabilizing agent on the solubility of silver NPs and its subsequent effect on their antimicrobial activities. Silver NPs were prepared using an aqueous solution of Pulicaria glutinosa plant extr...
