Using a radiative transfer code we have studied the dust shells of the two OH/IR stars IRAS 17004-4119 (OH344.93) and IRAS 17411-3154 (OH357). The ISO-SWS spectra of both sources exhibit deep amorphous silicate absorption bands at 9.8 and 17.5 μm together with crystalline silicate emission bands at 33.6, 40.5 and 43 μm. In both sources the 9.8 μm silicate band shows a shoulder at 11.2 μm. The a...

Interactions of fluoride anions and organocations with crystalline silicate frameworks are shown to depend subtly on the architectures of the organic species, which significantly influence the crystalline structures that result. One- and two-dimensional (2D) (1)H, (19)F, and (29)Si nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy measurements establish distinct intermolecular interactions among F(...

Field studies were established on the alluvial floodplain soils in Louisiana, from 2013 to 2015, to evaluate the effect of silicate slag applications on productivity of wheat (Triticum aestivum), under sufficient and high nitrogen (N) application rates. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design, with four replications consisting of twelve treatments: a factorial combination...

A molecular dynamics study of the aluminosilicate chains structure in Al-rich calcium silicate hydrated (C-S-H) gels A molecular dynamics study of the aluminosilicate chains structure in Al-rich calcium silicate hydrated (C-S-H) gels. Calcium silicate hydrated (C-S-H) gel is the principal binding phase of the cement paste and responsible for its strength. It is basically composed of silicate ch...

Tricalcium silicate cements have been successfully employed in the biomedical field as bioactive bone and dentin substitutes, with widely acclaimed osteoactive properties. This research analyzed the effects of different tricalcium silicate cement formulations on the temporal osteoactivity profile of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hMW-MSCs). These cells were exposed to four co...

Global silicate weathering drives long-time-scale fluctuations in atmospheric CO(2). While tectonics, climate, and rock-type influence silicate weathering, it is unclear how these factors combine to drive global rates. Here, we explore whether local erosion rates, GCM-derived dust fluxes, temperature, and water balance can capture global variation in silicate weathering. Our spatially explicit ...

The effect of chemical composition on the Raman spectra of a series of natural calcalkaline silicate glasses has been quantified by performing electron microprobe analyses and obtaining Raman spectra on glassy filaments (~450 µm) derived from a magma mingling experiment. The results provide a robust compositionally-dependent database for the Raman spectra of natural silicate glasses along the c...

The effects of various Abiotic factors, including concentrations of silicate and iron, temperature, light intensity and salinity of media on two purebred red tide diatoms, Phaeodactylum tricornutum and Thalassiosira weissflogii were investigated through single and full factorial experiments. The single-factor experiments showed diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum had the fastest growth rate with i...

A siliceous porous material containing nickel was synthesized by means of an intercalation treatment method using a layered sodium octosilicate ilerite as a starting base material. The sodium ions between the crystalline silicate sheets in the octosilicate were exchanged for hydrogen ions in dilute hydrochloric acid, and then the basal spaces between the silicate sheets were extended by introdu...

The Asinawa iron ore is located about 3km to the southeast of Penjween town, Sulaimaniya Governorate, Kurdistan Region, Northeastern Iraq near the Iraq-Iran border. The exposed iron ore deposit is about 60 and 400m wide and long respectively. The present study is the re-study of the geology and geochemistry of the Asnawan Iron ore deposit  and concluded that the country rocks are consist of ...
