We investigated the effects of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) and recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) therapy on the natural killer (NK) cell lineage in patients with aplastic anemia and myelodysplastic syndrome. Selected bone marrow (BM) cells were prepared by the elimination of nylon wool-adherent cells and mature T ...

Bacteremia remains a veritable scourge for patients with hematologic malignancy undergoing intensive chemotherapy1). Patients with profound granulocytopenia are most likely to develop persistent or recurrent bacteremia despite appropriate antibiotic therapy2•`4), that is, breakthrough bacteremia2). Most patients whose granulocyte counts increase during the course of the infection, however, have...

We present the case of a male patient, aged 45 yrs, with malignant mesothelioma producing granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). The diagnosis was established by histopathological examination of the autopsied pleural tissues. Production of G-CSF was confirmed by immunoperoxidase staining, using a specific monoclonal antibody against recombinant G-CSF (rhG-CSF).

Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a major neutrophil chemoattractant and functional stimulant that is induced by IL-1, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha), and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). We report that recombinant human (rh) granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and rhIL-3 are also potent inducers of IL-8 messenger RNA (mRNA) accumulation and protein secretion by normal peripheral ...

RhG-CSF is widely used in hematology and oncology for the amelioration of chemotherapy induced neutropenia, for the restoration of neutrophil production after bone marrow transplantation, and for other conditions such as myelodysplastic syndromes, aplastic anemia and severe chronic neutropenia. Moreover, RhG-CSF is able to bring about a lot of functional and phenotype modifications in the induc...

BACKGROUND Biopharmaceutical drugs are mainly recombinant proteins produced by biotechnological tools. The patents of many biopharmaceuticals have expired, and biosimilars are thus currently being developed. Human granulocyte colony stimulating factor (hG-CSF) is a hematopoietic cytokine that acts on cells of the neutrophil lineage causing proliferation and differentiation of committed precurso...

A 23-year-old male patient developed aplastic anemia and was treated with cyclosporin A and rhG-CSF. Bone marrow biopsy showed an improvement in cellularity with a recovery of all hematopoietic precursors after nine weeks of therapy. WBC increased after two weeks of treatment, mostly due to an increase in the absolute granulocyte cell count. Hb, RBC, Plts and reticulocytes showed an increase si...

two dogs with generalized seizures were evaluated. the dogs were diagnosed with traumatic intracranial hemorrhages based on the history, neurological examinations, and magnetic resonance imaging (mri) of the brain. treatment was started with oxygen, prednisolone and anticonvulsant agents. no further seizure activity was observed after treatment in both dogs, however cushing reflex was detected ...

A severe combined immunodeficient (SCID)-hu mouse model implanted with human fetal bone was used to assess the effects of various recombinant human (rh) hematopoietic growth factors, administered either alone or in combination, on human hematopoiesis in vivo. Treatment with rh granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) elicited the expansion of mature neutrophilic granulocyte populations in ...
