Background and purpose: Ïdentifying the various genotypes of Ëchinococcus granulosus as the agent of hydatid cysts in endemic areas can influence the disease control programs, particularly in humans. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the different genotypes of Ëchinococcus granulosus from paraffin-embedded tissues of hydatid cysts isolated from human by PÇR-RFLP. Materials an...

Background and Aim: Leishmania major p4 gene is normally expressed during amastigote form of the parasite and can be a good candidate for producing an effective vaccine. The aim of this study is to clone p4 gene in a suitable vector for further vaccine production studies .Materials and Methods: This is an experimental study. Leishmania promastigote was grown in N.N.N. medium and later in th...

Introduction: Dicrocoeliasis is a common disease of bile ducts and gallbladder of domestic and wild ruminants. This disease is caused by different species of dicrocoelium including Dicrocoelium dendriticum. The aim of this study was to identify pathological damages and molecular features associated with this parasite in ruminants. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 180 fresh...

The diagnosis of mutations that are responsible for human genetic diseases is important, and several molecular biology techniques based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) (1), have been specially developed for this purpose (2-8) . For some of these techniques it is the presence or the absence of a PCR product that constitutes the analytical step, ie proves the presence of the mutation. In order...

The ability of Legionella pneumophila to act as a recipient of IncP and IncQ plasmids in matings with Escherichia coli varies widely from strain to strain. We found that the low efficiency of mating of the Philadelphia-1 strain is due to a type II restriction-modification system, and we isolated and characterized a Philadelphia-1 mutant that lacks the restriction enzyme activity.

Partial digestion of DNA fragments is a standard procedure for subcloning analysis and for generating restriction maps. We have developed a novel method to generate a partial digestion for any DNA fragment that can be amplified by PCR. The method involves the incorporation of 5-methyl-dCTP into the PCR product to protect most of the restriction sites. As a result, complete digestion of the modi...
