We study ηc and J/ψ hadroproduction induced by multiple scattering off fixed centres in the target. We determine the minimum number of hard scatterings required and show that additional soft scatterings may be factorized, at the level of the production amplitude for the ηc and of the cross section for the J/ψ. The J/ψ provides an interesting example of soft rescattering effects occurring inside...

Two experiments investigated Zajone's (1968) hypothesis that mere repeated exposure to stimuli is a sufficient condition to enhance individuals' attitudes toward those stimuli. In the first experiment, no significant differences in preference were obtained following exposure to high- and low-redundancy sequences of nonsense syllables. In the second study, the effects of repeated exposure were m...

Subjects’ identification of briefly presented target fines can sometimes be facilitated by including noninformative lines of context in the display Ithe object-fine effect}. Previous explanations for this effect have claimed that stimulus properties such as three-dimensionality, connectedness, structural relevance, fine-masking, or fixation-point detail, allow fine-in-context stimuli to be proc...

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with nearly 1.4 million new cases diagnosed in 2012. CRC results from the accumulation of multiple genetic and epigenetic aberrations. Tumor localization in the large intestine tract determines different surgical approaches and treatment options. Considering the heterogeneous nature of these tumors we hypothe...

Article history:Accepted 3 June 2008Available online 11 June 2008In this study, callosal function was behaviourally tested in MS patients with a redundantstimuli task. Reaction times to uniand bilateral visual stimuli are recorded. Normalsubjects respond faster to bilateral than to unilateral stimuli. This effect is called theredundancy gain effect. In patients with agen...

The two-year C OBE-DMR 53 and 90 GHz sky maps, in both galactic and ecliptic coordinates, are used to determine the normalisation of innationary universe models with a at global geometry and adiabatic density perturbations. The appropriately normalised cold and mixed dark matter models and cosmological constant dominated, cold dark matter models, computed for a range of values of b and h, are t...

In this paper, we show the redundancies of multiset topological spaces. It is proved that $(P^star(U),sqsubseteq)$ and $(Ds(varphi(U)),subseteq)$ are isomorphic. It follows that multiset topological spaces are superfluous and unnecessary in the theoretical view point.

Dimensionality reduction of the problem space through detection and removal of variables, contributing little or not at all to classification, is able to relieve the computational load and instance acquisition effort, considering all the data attributes accessed each time around. The approach to feature selection in this paper is based on the concept of coherent accumulation of data about class...

In this work we consider a generalized version of Probability Smoothing, the core elementary model for sequential prediction in the state of the art PAQ family of data compression algorithms. Our main contribution is a code length analysis that considers the redundancy of Probability Smoothing with respect to a Piecewise Stationary Source. The analysis holds for a finite alphabet and expresses ...

With rapid progress in both computers and networks, real-time multimedia applications are now possible on the Internet. Since the Internet was designed to support traditional applications, multimedia applications on the Internet often suffer from unacceptable delay, jitter and data loss. Among these, data loss often has the largest impact on quality. In this paper, we propose a new forward erro...
