The forward looking radar imaging task is a practical and challenging problem for adverse weather aircraft landing industry. Deconvolution method can realize the forward looking imaging but it often leads to the noise amplification in the radar image. In this paper, a forward looking radar imaging based on deconvolution method is presented for adverse weather aircraft landing. We first present ...

Lidar and radar observations from CALIPSO and CloudSat missions have allowed the development of methods to determine atmospheric parameters [1, 2]. Total aerosol optical depth (AOD) and cloud liquid water path have thus been derived at the scale of the lidar or radar footprint using AMSR-E wind speed information [3, 4], or the combination of lidar and radar observations using ocean surface echo...

The subject of this paper is the Colorado State University–University of Chicago–Illinois State Water Survey (CSU–CHILL) National Radar Facility’s S-band polarimetric research radar. Key features of this system include polarization agility (provided by the dual-transmitter, dual-receiver design), a recently updated signal processor, and a low (234 dB, two way) integrated cross-polar ratio (ICPR...

Surface Wave High Frequency Radars (SWHFR) are taken into account in the content of modeling and simulation challenges. Examples related to multi-mixed path surface wave propagation, radar cross section (RCS) prediction, and total radar echo showing target, clutter, noise, and interference are presented.

− This paper presents results from calculating the radar cross section (RCS) of two maritime radar reflectors using the method of moments. The Echomaster 152, although smaller in size, produces a higher maximum RCS than the Echomax 230 that includes three layers of corner reflectors. The Echomaster 152 also has deeper nulls in the RCS pattern, which means it is less detectable at those angles.

A scheme for multitarget identification and localization using bistatic MIMO radar systems is proposed. Multitarget can be distinguished by Capon method, as well as the targets angles with respect to transmitter and receiver can be synthesized using the received signals. Thus, the locations of the multiple targets are obtained and spatial synchronization problem in traditional bistatic radars i...

A chaotic radar system has been developed for through-wall detection and ranging of targets. The chaotic signal generated by an improved Colpitts oscillator is designed as a probe signal. Ranging to target is achieved by the cross-correlation between the time-delayed reflected return signal and the replica of the transmitted chaotic signal. In this paper, we explore the performance of the chaot...

[1] The millimeter wavelength radar backscattering properties at 94 GHz for six nonspherical ice crystals, which include hexagonal column, hollow, plate, bullet rosette, aggregate, and droxtal with 46 maximum dimensions ranging from 2 to 10,500 mm, are investigated using the discrete dipole approximation (DDA) method and Lorenz-Mie theory. It is found that the radar backscattering cross section...

Three-dimensional computer graphic techniques are applied to the processing of snowstorm radar data. The following techniques are examined: 1) perspective representation of radar data; 2) zooming; 3) change in viewing angle and viewing point; 4) arbitrary cross-sectional analysis; and 5) time sequence analysis of perspective

The wireless measurement of various physical quantities from the analysis of the RADAR Cross Sections variability of passive electromagnetic sensors is presented. A millimetre-wave Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave RADAR is used for both remote sensing and wireless identification of sensors. Long reading ranges (up to some decameters) may be reached at the expense of poor measurement resoluti...
