The glutamine synthetases from several Pseudomonas species were purified to homogeneity, and their properties were compared with those reported for the enzymes from Escherichia coli and other gram-negative bacteria. The glutamine synthetase from Pseudomonas fluorescens was unique because it was nearly precipitated quantitatively as a homogeneous protein during dialysis of partially purified pre...

Pseudomonas fluorescens LBUM223 is a plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR) with biocontrol activity against various plant pathogens. It produces the antimicrobial metabolite phenazine-1-carboxylic acid, which is involved in the biocontrol of Streptomyces scabies, the causal agent of common scab of potato. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of P. fluorescens LBUM223.

The effects of high hydrostatic pressures on protein synthesis by whole cells and cell free preparations of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Pseudomonas bathycetes were determined. Actively growing cells of P. bathycetes and P. fluorescens were less sensitive than were E. coli cells. Protein synthesis by cell free preparations of E. coli and P. fluorescens showed the same extent o...

Pseudomonas fluorescens is commonly considered a saprophytic rhizobacterium devoid of pathogenic potential. Nevertheless, the recurrent isolation of strains from clinical human cases could indicate the emergence of novel strains originating from the rhizosphere reservoir, which could be particularly resistant to the immune system and clinical treatment. The importance of type three secretion sy...

Pseudomonas fluorescens is a well-known plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR). We report here the first whole-genome sequence of PGPR P. fluorescens evaluated in Colombian banana plants. The genome sequences contains genes involved in plant growth and defense, including bacteriocins, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase, and genes that provide resistance to toxic compounds.

Pseudomonas fluorescens is considered a major milk spoilage organism due to its psychrotrophic nature and ability to produce heat-stable proteases and lipases. Here, we report the draft genome and annotation of P. fluorescens SRM1 isolated from spoiled raw milk and the presence of an operon encoding spoilage enzymes.

Cysteine inhibits growth of and protease production by Pseudomonas fluorescens NC3. Catalase activity in P. fluorescens NC3 was increased by cysteine. The addition of exogenous hydrogen peroxide did not increase catalase activity, thus suggesting a role for the endogenous generation of hydrogen peroxide via the autoxidation of cysteine.

Here, we report the first draft whole-genome sequence of Pseudomonas fluorescens strain EK007-RG4, which was isolated from the phylloplane of a pear tree. P. fluorescens EK007-RG4 displays strong antagonism against Erwinia amylovora, the causal agent for fire blight disease, in addition to several other pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria.

Four carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas spp. were isolated from patients in Singapore. One Pseudomonas putida isolate contained a bla(IMP-1) identical to that first described in Japan. The sequence of a variant bla(IMP-1) in Pseudomonas fluorescens contained four silent mutations compared with the original sequence. The remaining P. putida isolates contained bla(VIM-6), a novel VIM gene variant.
