Abstract As climate warming progresses, it becomes necessary to study the effects of water temperature on basin-scale dynamic distribution riverine fish. This examined spatiotemporal Plecoglossus altivelis using environmental DNA approach and its relationship with from summer growth autumn spawning periods in Nagara River basin, central Japan. The overall results P. were consistent known life h...
The Ayu Plecoglossus altivelis is an amphidromous fish that not only the most important commercial fishery species in Japanese rivers but also has a high economic value recreational fishing. However, degradation of its spawning grounds caused decrease abundance. In this study, we used environmental DNA (eDNA) to monitor Takatsu River Japan (1) identify season three known grounds, (2) clarify ch...
Two types of bacteriophage specific to Pseudomonas plecoglossicida, the causative agent of bacterial hemorrhagic ascites disease in cultured ayu fish (Plecoglossus altivelis), were isolated from diseased ayu and the rearing pond water. One type of phage, which formed small plaques, was tentatively classified as a member of the family Myoviridae, and the other type, which formed large plaques, w...
Light and electron microscopic immunolocalization of taurine, a sulfur-containing free amino acid, was investigated in the photoneuroendocrine pineal organ and the retinal photoreceptor and pigment epithelial layer of the ayu Plecoglossus altivelis, an anadromous fish. Intense immunostaining was found in the outer segments of pineal photoreceptors and retinal cone-like cells. Moderate but defin...
Transmissible gastroenteritis virus strain AYU was isolated in Shanghai. The complete genome has a length of 28,582 bp and contains seven open reading frames. Sequence analysis suggested that Shanghai strain AYU and U.S. strain Purdue P115 are derived from a common ancestor, as they have 99.6% similarity at the nucleotide level.
