We present a measurement of relative partial widths and decay rate CP asymmetries in K-K+ and pi(-)pi(+) decays of D0 mesons produced in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV. We use a sample of 2x10(5) D(*+)-->D0pi(+) (and charge conjugate) decays with the D0 decaying to K-pi(+), K-K+, and pi(-)pi(+), corresponding to 123 pb(-1) of data collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab II experiment ...

Borrelia hermsii, a spirochete and an agent of relapsing fever, undergoes spontaneous antigenic variation both in vivo (1, 2) and in vitro (2). The rate of serotypic change is estimated to be 10-3-10 -4 per cell per generation (2). The antigenic repertoire of B. hermsii (2) may be as extensive as that of another vector-transmitted and blood-borne pathogen, Trypanosoma brucei, a eucaryote (3, 4)...

Orthophosphate (Pi), adenosine 5'-diphosphate (ADP), adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) and 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) were measured in the erythrocytes of patients in an intensive care unit. The patients' plasma concentration of Pi varied from 0.1 to 4.2 mmol/l, and the corresponding concentration in erythrocytes varied from 0.1 to 2.0 mmol/litre of cells. Marked ATP depletion (less than 1 ...

5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) activates the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (Erk) mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) in the vasculature, resulting in contraction. The mechanisms by which this occurs are unclear. G protein-coupled receptors can activate Erk MAPK pathways through a variety of mechanisms, including stimulation of Src, phosphoinositide-3 kinase (PI-3-K), protein kinase C ...

Three-state conical intersections have been located and characterized for cytosine and its analog 5-methyl-2-pyrimidinone using multireference configuration-interaction ab initio methods. The potential energy surfaces for each base contain three different three-state intersections: two different S(0)-S(1)-S(2) intersections (gs/pi pi(*)/n(N)pi(*) and gs/pi pi(*)/n(O)pi(*)) and an S(1)-S(2)-S(3)...

The rice (Oryza sativa L.) genome contains at least six genes exclusively with an SPX (SYG1/PHO81/XPR1) domain at the N-terminal, designated as OsSPX1-6. Here we report the diverse expression patterns of the OsSPX genes in different tissues and their responses to Pi-starvation. Among them, five genes, OsSPX1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are responsive to Pi-starvation in shoots and/or in roots. The subcellul...

From electron-positron collision data collected with the CLEO detector operating at Cornell Electron Storage Ring near sqrt[s]=10.6 GeV, improved measurements of the branching fractions for tau decays into three explicitly identified hadrons and a neutrino are presented as B(tau(-)-->pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau))=(9.13+/-0.05+/-0.46)%, B(tau(-)-->K-pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau))=(3.84+/-0.14+/-0.38) x 10(-3), B(...

Let $\pi$ be a proper subset of the set all primes. Denote by $r$ smallest prime which does not belong to and $m = r$ if $r 2$ or $3$ r-1$ \geqslant 5$. We study following conjecture: conjugacy class $D$ finite group $G$ is contained in $\pi$-radical $\mathrm{O}_\pi(G)$ only every $m$ elements generate $\pi$-subgroup. confirm this conjecture for each whose nonabelian composition factors are iso...
