Electrochemical measurements show that the enzyme Glucose oxidase (GO) is adsorbed on the surface of TiO2 without apparently changing the flat band potential of the semiconductor, indicating that it does not cause a change of the energy of conduction band electrons. On the other hand, it is observed that GO markedly increases the efficiency of the two electron reduction of O2 to H2O2 which is a...

Hartley (4) has reported the amino acid sequence of a 25-residue peptide from the tryptic digest of X-sulfochymotrypsinogen which contains the “active center” serine as well as both methionine residues of a-chymotrypsin (Fig. 1). By kinetic analysis, Ray et al. (5, 6) deduced that 1 of the 2 methionine residues and 1 of the 2 histidine residues in chymotrypsin are rapidly destroyed on photo-oxi...

Nickel-manganese oxides with variable Ni : Mn ratios, synthesised from heterobimetallic single-source precursors, turned out to be efficient water oxidation catalysts. They were subjected to oxidant-driven, photo- and electro-catalytic water oxidation showing superior activity and remarkable stability. In addition, a structure-activity relation could be established.

Smog chamber experiments were conducted to investigate the chemical and physical transformations of organic aerosol (OA) during photo-oxidation of open biomass burning emissions. The experiments were carried out at the US Forest Service Fire Science Laboratory as part of the third Fire Lab at Missoula Experiment (FLAME III). We investigated emissions from 12 different fuels commonly burned in N...

Three water-soluble cobalt porphyrins have been investigated as water oxidation catalysts via photo-initiation using Ru(II)(bpy)3(2+)/Na2S2O8. The pH dependence of the turnover frequency revealed maximum activity at pH 11. Based on the second order dependence on catalyst concentration for the rate of water oxidation, we suggest a bimolecular radical coupling process as the rate determining step.
