Trauma to primary teeth can lead to devastating sequels in development of permanent successors. The disturbance may range from enamel hypoplasia and/or hypo-calcification to arrest of dental bud development. Crown dilaceration of permanent teeth is one of the consequences of trauma to deciduous teeth mainly due to intrusion or avulsion. This report presents a mandibular central incisor with dil...

The treatment and follow-up evaluation of two orally luxated maxillary primary central incisors in a three-year-old girl is described. The injured teeth were displaced into a cross-bite with their mandibular opposing teeth. They were repositioned shortly after the injury and splinted with composite resin for two weeks. Oral hygiene instructions and antibiotic therapy were prescribed. Two weeks ...

We report a rare case of osteonecrosis of the jaw following necrotizing gingivitis in a Japanese AIDS patient. Intraoral examination showed exposed necrotic bone in the left mandible and spontaneous loss of teeth. This patient was successfully treated with highly active anti-retroviral therapy combined with minimally invasive surgical procedures to remove the osteonecrosis of the jaw.

the treatment of in completely formed pulpless teeth has presented considrable problems. these teeth have wide open apexes and the walls of the root canal diverge toward the apical tissues. mechanical preparation cannot be done in the normal manner beacause of the large initial size and the taper of apical part of the canal , a mechanical stop cannot be produced at the apex of the canal and , t...

SHED (stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth) represent a population of postnatal stem cells capable of extensive proliferation and multipotential differentiation. Primary teeth may be an ideal source of postnatal stem cells to regenerate tooth structures and bone, and possibly to treat neural tissue injury or degenerative diseases. SHED are highly proliferative cells derived from an ...

This case report describes treatment of a necrotic immature permanent mandibular first molar with pulpal necrosis in 9-year old female with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia. The coronal half of the root canal was debrided with a file #30 to remove necrotic tissue, and irrigated with chlorhexidine 0.12%. Bleeding was evoked to form an intracanal blood clot; the wound was then dressed with calcium hy...

This study describes the treatment of a necrotic immature permanent central incisor with crown fracture. Instead of the conventional root canal treatment, a regenerative approach based on conservative endodontic method for revascularization was provided. The root canal was gently debrided of necrotic tissue by irrigating with sodium hypochlorite and then medicated with tri-antibiotic paste. Aft...

Antibiotics are a valuable addition to health practitioners for the management of bacterial infections. During endodontic treatment and when managing trauma to the teeth, antibiotics may be applied systemically or locally. Due to the potential risk of adverse effects of systemic applications, and the ineffectiveness of systemic prescribed antibiotics in necrotic or pulpless teeth and the perira...

Therefore, the aim of this report was to present a case of pulp revascularisation in a severely intruded immature maxillary right incisor. CASE REPORT After clinical and radiographic examination, the incisor...

We used denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) to compare bacterial profiles in periodontium and root canals of teeth with combined periodontal-endodontic lesions. Samples of dental plaque and necrotic pulp were collected from thirteen extracted teeth with advanced periodontitis. Genomic DNA was extracted for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis using universal bacterial primers. Th...
