The strength of the extracellular matrix (ECM) is that it hierarchical in terms built-up, density and fiber structure, which allows for hormones, cytokines, other small biomolecules to be stored within its network. ECM-like hydrogels are currently used do not possess this ability, long-term storage, along with need free diffusion molecules, generally incompatible requirements. Nanogels able ful...

recently, specific attention has been paid to aptamers, short dna or rna, as a tool for cancer diagnosis and therapy. in the present study mcs nanogels were prepared by myristate: chitosan at 1:9 ratio and were characterized by several techniques. a selected ssdna aptamer(apt) capable of detecting lncap cells was linked to myristilated chitosan nanogels (apt-mcs) by glutaraldehyde and loaded wi...

High Internal Phase Emulsion hydrogels are prepared from waterborne poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) nanogel dispersions which are non-covalently crosslinked through 2-ureido-4[1H] pyrimidinone (UPy) quadruple hydrogen bond groups. The reversible UPy crosslinks allow for the HIPE-hydrogels to be molded into objects which are thermo-responsive in nature.

A new class of nanogel demonstrates modular biodistribution and affinity for bone. Nanogels, ∼70 nm in diameter and synthesized via an astoichiometric click-chemistry in-emulsion method, controllably display residual, free clickable functional groups. Functionalization with a bisphosphonate ligand results in significant binding to bone on the inner walls of marrow cavities, liver avoidance, and...

A reductase-cleavable and thermo-responsive star-shaped polymer nanogel was prepared via an "arm-first" atom transfer radical polymerization approach. The nanogel consists of a thermo- and redox-sensitive core and a zwitterionic copolymer block. The dual sensitive core is composed of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) that is formed by disulfide crosslinking of N-isopropylacrylamide. The zwitterionic ...

Amphiphilic star-block copolymers based on poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) with adamantyl end-functionalization were synthesized via anionic ring-opening polymerization and alkyne-azide "Click Chemistry" coupling. In aqueous medium, the copolymers self-assembled into nanogel-like large compound micelles, and transformed into vesicular nanostructures under the direction of host-guest interaction between...

We report the preparation of biodegradable nanoscopic hydrogels and their application for targeted drug delivery. The nanogel is synthesized in a template-free method by photo-crosslinking salt-induced polymer assemblies. With convenient incorporation of targeted lactosyl moieties, the nanogels efficiently deliver doxorubicin to HepG2 cells through receptor-mediated internalization.
