Magneto-rheological dampers (MR-Dampers) are increasingly being used in construction applications to reduce the dynamic response of structures seismic activities or severe wind loading. Sensors attached structure will signal computer supply with an electric charge that transfers MR fluid a near-solid material different physical and mechanical properties (viscoelastic behavior). Control algorith...

Abstract Magnetorheological (MR) fluids are classified as smart materials whose viscoplastic characteristics change under the magnetic field. They widely applied for dynamic energy dissipation due to their rapid thickening external In this work, core–shell suspension of superparamagnetic iron oxide-based nanoparticles was synthesized and dispersed in silicone oil. Much effort has been made prep...

We report two cases of cystic lesions in the head and neck, one a cystic schwannoma and the other a neurofibroma, both of which showed fluid-fluid levels on MR images. The differential diagnosis of fluid-fluid levels in the head and neck region should include cystic hygromas, aneurysmal bone cysts, soft-tissue cavernous hemangiomas, and simple bone cysts.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Rathke's cleft cysts often may be difficult to differentiate from other intrasellar or suprasellar masses on radiologic studies. The purpose of this study was to describe the significance of intracystic nodules, a diagnostic characteristic found in Rathke's cleft cysts, on MR images. METHODS A retrospective review of MR studies was conducted for 13 patients who, after p...

Hard-magnetic barium ferrite (BF) nanoparticles with a hexagonal plate-like structure were used as an additive to carbonyl iron (CI) microparticle-based magnetorheological (MR) fluid. The morphology of the pristine CI and CI/BF mixture particles was examined by scanning electron microscopy. saturation magnetization coercivity values each particle measured in powder state vibrating sample magnet...

Tears of the anulus fibrosus, which have been implicated in back pain, have not been studied systematically with MR imaging. We correlated MR images with cryomicrotome sections to study the lumbar anulus fibrosus in 20 cadavers. Three distinct types of tears of the anulus were identified: concentric tears, characterized by fluid-filled spaces between adjacent lamellae; radial tears, characteriz...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE No prior report has comprehensively discussed the intravertebral vacuum cleft sign and the fluid sign on MR images of vertebral osteonecrosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate MR images of osteonecrotic vertebral bodies and adjacent intervertebral disks and vertebral bodies. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed MR images of patients with vertebral osteonecros...

PURPOSE To evaluate the spectrum of MR characteristics of cystic acoustic schwannoma and to investigate its incidence. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the MR findings and clinical records of 16 patients with cystic acoustic schwannomas. In addition, the MR examinations of 411 consecutive patients referred for clinical suspicion of acoustic schwannomas were reviewed retrospectively to asse...

PURPOSE To determine whether gadolinium can improve the sensitivity and specificity of MR imaging for the initial diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. METHODS Patients (n = 57) with neurologic symptoms suggesting multiple sclerosis were studied prospectively. MR imaging consisted of T2-weighted and gadolinium-enhanced T1-weighted spin-echo images. Lumbar puncture was performed for cerebrospinal f...
