Mediastinal inflammatory pseudotumor is a rare benign disease with its capability for local invasion and rapid growth. We present a case of middle-mediastinal inflammatory pseudotumor and report its contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography, (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography and pathologic findings.
A 67-year-old woman had a large mediastinal mass with calcification. On roentgenogram of 30 years ago, the same mass without calcification was seen. The mediastinal mass was removed by surgery and proved to be a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), most probably as a transition from a giant lymph node hyperplasia (Castleman's disease).
conclusions to our knowledge, this is the first case of ctc that was identified incidentally in the retrocaval position and caused intermittent obstruction of vena cava. case presentation the present study reports on a 66-year-old female with coronary artery disease (cad) who was scheduled for coronary artery bypass grafting (cabg) at our hospital. during mediastinal exploration and pericardiot...
It is well known that immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related sclerosing disease usually occurs in the pancreas, bile duct and gall bladder, but not in the mediastinum, trachea or superior vena cava (SVC). In this case, a patient underwent mediastinal mass excision and trachea resection and repair for a mediastinal and intratracheal mass 15 years ago. This mass was diagnosed postoperatively as an infl...
Colorectal carcinoma is the second biggest cancer responsible for mortality. Lung metastasis is the commonest, following the liver. It is not uncommon to perform pulmonary metastasectomy and identify mediastinal metastasis. Previous studies have identified incidental lymph node involvement following routine mediastinal lymph node clearance in 20-50% of cases. However, solitary intrathoracic lym...
Phaeohyphomycosis is a disease caused by dematiaceous fungi. Here, the first culture-proven case of mediastinal mass due to Fonsecaea pedrosoi is reported. The patient was a 40-yr-old male who had presented with history of dyspnoea and dysphagia. Computed tomography of the chest disclosed a mediastinal mass. Cultures of a specimen from the mediastinum grew Fonsecaea pedrosoi. The patient receiv...
Castleman’s disease, giant lymph node hyperplasia, is a kind of benign lymphoproliferative disease with gentle behavior. Its etiology and prevalence are unclear. This rare disease is usually found in mediastinal area asymptomatically and incidentally. It is also rare to see this tumor in the retroperitoneum. In this study, we have introduced a 34-year-old woman who referred just with occasional...
