listeria monocytogenes can be found throughout the environment and in many foods. it is associated primarily with meat and animal products. listeria monocytogenes has become increasingly important as a food-borne pathogen. the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of microwave (mw) treatment of chicken meat samples which were inoculated with l. monocytogenes. drumettes of broiler carcass...

conclusions probable mechanism of suppression of energy generation is suppression of the rise in glucose. results listeria monocytogenes was controlled using 2 mm of osthole. treatment of l. monocytogenes by 2 mm osthole had no effect on the atp level. objectives osthole has antibacterial properties, but its mechanisms of action is still unknown. materials and methods two millimoles of osthole ...

A method was developed for detection of Listeria monocytogenes by polymerase chain reaction amplification followed by agarose gel electrophoresis or dot blot analysis with a 32P-labeled internal probe. The technique identified 95 of 95 L. monocytogenes strains, 0 of 12 Listeria strains of other species, and 0 of 12 non-Listeria strains.

Listeriosis is a severe human disease caused by two potentially pathogenic listerial species: Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria ivanovii. In particular, the risk of contamination can be significantly high in refrigerated ready-to-eat foods, due to the limited use of traditional antimicrobial barriers. Moreover, Listeria spp. is widely disseminated in the manufacturing environment and can cont...

Interleukin 17 (IL-17) is produced during infection with Listeria monocytogenes and is also an important regulator of tumor development with both pro- and anti-tumorigenic effects. αβ T cells and γδ T cells are among the principle producers of IL-17 in response to infection and other proinflammatory conditions. Listeria-based cancer immunotherapies induce IFNγ directed Th1 dependent tumor regre...

The genus Listeria contains the two pathogenic species Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria ivanovii and the four apparently apathogenic species Listeria innocua, Listeria seeligeri, Listeria welshimeri, and Listeria grayi. Pathogenicity of the former two species is enabled by an approximately 9 kb virulence gene cluster which is also present in a modified form in L. seeligeri. For all Listeria ...

An insertion mutant of gtcA, responsible for serotype-specific glycosylation of the cell wall teichoic acid in serotype 4b strains of Listeria monocytogenes, was also resistant to both Listeria genus- and serotype 4b-specific phages. The sugar substituents on teichoic acid appeared essential for the adsorption of phages A500 (serotype 4b specific) and A511 (Listeria genus specific) to serotype ...
