Perinephric hematomas are common after percutaneous needle biopsy of the kidney and are usually clinically occult. Infectious complications in the absence of concomitant urinary tract infection, however, are unusual. PURPOSE We evaluated the safety and accuracy of ultrasonography-guided percutaneous core biopsy collection in patients with renal masses. MATERIALS AND METHODS From June 2008 to August 2012, 30 percutaneous core biopsies of renal masses were performed. The biopsies obtained were small tumors (<4 cm) with ambiguous radiologic findings or that met classic renal biopsy indications. The biopsy re...
A male patient with acute renal failure (ARF) due to large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma infiltration of kidney is presented. The diagnosis was suspected because of coincidence of ARF and tumor lysis syndrome non-responsive to conservative renal therapies. A renal biopsy confirmed diagnosis and appropriate chemotherapy led to complete improvement of renal function.

BACKGROUND Biopsy from deceased donors is of great value in predicting the efficacy and mid-term and long-term outcome of kidney transplantation. OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence of pathological changes in live donors' kidneys and their association with the graft outcome. METHODS This cohort study was performed among a group of renal transplant recipients. Biopsy was taken from donor's...
