cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

one of the most commonly used techniques to reduce the corrosion rate of rebar in concrete is addition substances named corrosion inhibitors into the concrete. corrosion inhibitor is chemical compounds that were added to concrete to prevent corrosion of steel in concrete. sodium nitrate is a type of anodic inhibitors that this study investigatesthe effect of this inhibitor on the properties of ...

Determination of the composition and stability of metal-ion mandelate complexes was performed as a part of systematic investigations of unsubstituted and substituted metal-ion monocarboxylate complexes in our laboratory. The intention was to give some insight into factors governing the stability of these complexes-. In order to complete this study the same experimental conditions (i. e. tempera...

Extracellular DNA (eDNA) is an important structural component of biofilms formed by many bacteria, but few reports have focused on its role in initial cell adhesion. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of eDNA in bacterial adhesion to abiotic surfaces, and determine to which extent eDNA-mediated adhesion depends on the physicochemical properties of the surface and surrounding liqu...

Spectrophotometric study of Hoechst 33258 binding to DNA has been investigated. It was shown that this ligand forms at least two types of complexes at 0.002 M and 0.02M ionic strengths of solution. One of them is strong, the other is weak. It was revealed that at 0.02M ionic strength of solution, the binding constant value by strong mode is one order higher than at 0.002M. It was obtained that ...

Aqueous-organic mixtures can be used to lower freezing points in the study of some enzymic reactions at subzero temperatures. It is necessary to work at suitable ionic strengths and protonic activities and to know how these parameters vary with temperature. This paper deals with the provision of a controlled ionic environment and indicates how to obtain a desired ionic content in order to study...

The kinetics of acrylic acid (AA) solution polymerization was investigated by polymerizing 30 wt % aqueous AA solutions at pH values ranging from 2.2 to 9.9. The polymerization rate was determined with differential photocalorimetry and was found to be a strong function of the solution pH and the ionic strength. Although the polymerization rate decreased with increasing pH below pH 6.5, an incre...

A major limitation of on-water catalysis has been the need for liquid reactants to enable emulsification. We demonstrate that ionic liquids are compatible with on-water catalysis, enabling on-water catalysed reactions for otherwise unreactive solid-solid systems. The unique solvation properties of ionic liquids dramatically expands the scope of on-water catalysis.
