We time-resolved the UV-induced photodissociation of OCS at ? = 237 nm through pump-probe ion imaging.

A cascade reaction-based colorimetric and fluorescent probe for selective fluoride ion detection is reported. The probe displays a fast response (t1/2 = 2.41 min) and 550-fold fluorescence enhancement during sensing of fluoride ions. Application of the probe in live cell imaging is demonstrated.

A simple cylindrical Mach probe is described along with an independent calibration procedure in a magnetized plasma wind tunnel. A particle orbit calculation corroborates our model. The probe operates in the weakly magnetized regime in which probe dimension and ion orbit are of the same scale. Analytical and simulation models are favorably compared with experimental calibration.
