Informed consent mandates for abortion providers may infringe the First Amendment's freedom of speech. On the other hand, they may reinforce the physician's duty to obtain informed consent. Courts can promote both doctrines by ensuring that compelled physician speech pertains to medical facts about abortion rather than abortion ideology and that compelled speech is truthful and not misleading.

The Push, the Pull and the Push&Pull algorithms are well-known rumor spreading protocols. In all three, in the beginning one node of a graph is informed. In the Push setting, every round every informed node chooses a neighbor uniformly at random and, if it is not already informed anyway, informs it. In the Pull setting, each round each uninformed node chooses a neighbor uniformly at random and ...

growing demands and requires of high data rate systems cause significant increase of high frequency systems for wideband communication applications. as mixers are one of the main blocks of each receivers and its performance has great impact on receiver’s performance; in this thesis, a new solution for ku-band (12-18 ghz) mixer design in tsmc 0.18 µm is presented. this mixer has high linearity a...

In this paper, we study a combination of the multicast communication problem and the maximum disjoint paths problem. Specifically, we are given a directed tree T rooted at r, and we want to send a message from r to a subset of nodes in T. We accomplish this via a multicast schedule which consists of a number of time steps in which informed nodes deliver the message to uninformed nodes until all...

Modern genetic research requires scientists to collect, store, and study DNA samples and health information from thousands of people. Longstanding policy allows researchers to use samples and information without a person's informed consent as long as the person's identity is protected. Under existing policy, researchers must neither disclose study results to interested research participants nor...
