Introduction: Continuous curriculum revision and updates are crucial to achieve the main mission of universities. This study aimed to compare the curriculum for undergraduate medical librarianship with those of other similar majors in Iran. Methods: In this comparative study, a checklist consisting of three curriculums: "Medical Library and Information Sciences", "Knowledge an...
International co-authorship relations and university-industry-government (“Triple Helix”) relations have hitherto been studied separately. Using Japanese (ISI) publication data for the period 1981-2004, we were able to study both kinds of relations in a single design. In the Japanese file, 1,277,823 articles with at least one Japanese address were attributed to the three sectors, and we know ad...
Entangled inputs can enhance the capacity of quantum channels, this being one of the consequences of the celebrated result showing the nonadditivity of several quantities relevant for quantum information science. In this work, we answer the converse question (whether entangled inputs can ever render noisy quantum channels to have maximum capacity) to the negative: No sophisticated entangled inp...
Technology is most commonly associated with material things, tools or artifacts. But technology is also theoretically associated with routines, patterns of action that provide capabilities. Schatzki’s practice theory allows for an overarching perspective that ties tools as devices to routines in a broader social context and offers insights into technological change, in particular, in the inform...
We show that three-body loss of trapped atoms leads to sub-Poissonian atom-number fluctuations. We prepare hundreds of dense ultracold ensembles in an array of magnetic microtraps which undergo rapid three-body decay. The shot-to-shot fluctuations of the number of atoms per trap are sub-Poissonian, for ensembles comprising 50-300 atoms. The measured relative variance or Fano factor F=0.53+/-0.2...
More than 90 percent of the essays in Current Contenrs@ (CC@) concern the natural sciences. While our approach is often sociological or historical, our special forays into the social sciences are relatively rare. This is strange considering E@’s strong commitment to providing resources in the social sciences and in the arts and humanities. (indeed, as a follow-up to the Science Citation Index@ ...
