Vulnerability analysis in areas vulnerable to anthropogenic pollution has become a key element of sensible resource management and land use planning. This study is intended estimate aquifer vulnerability using the DRASTIC model vertical electrical sounding (VES) conductivity (EC) outcomes. The allows for identification hydrogeological environments within scope research, based on composite defin...

BACKGROUND The Global Programme to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (GPELF) depends upon Mass Drug Administration (MDA) to interrupt transmission. Therefore, delimitation of transmission risk areas is an important step, and hence we attempted to define a geo-environmental risk model (GERM) for determining the areas of potential transmission of lymphatic filariasis. METHODS A range of geo-enviro...

This is the first report, to our knowledge, of refractive-index grating side writing in 10 mol.% GeO(2)-doped fiber by the near-UV light of a cw Ar(+) laser (333-364 nm). An induced-index magnitude as large as 1.9 x 10(-4) at 1.7x10(5) W/cm(2) UV power density has been achieved. The observed gratings have exhibited the same temperature stability as gratings written by a KrF excimer laser (248 nm).

<p>Due to the extensive use of social media and mobile devices, unbounded massive data is generated continuously. The need process this big increasing day by day. traditional processing algorithms fail cater various applications such as digital geo-based advertising, recommendation systems. There has been a high demand continuous spatial fuzzy textual queries over stream spatial-textual o...

The contamination of riverbed sediments by heavy metals has assumedserious problems due to their toxicity and accumulative behavior. The present studyinvestigated the concentrations of heavy metals from the bottom sediments of ShitalakhyaRiver to understand the level of contamination and their distribution. The averageconcentrations of heavy metals Al, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, As, Cu, Co, Cr, and Zn are ...

Background and Objective: Street dust is considered as one of the important sources of particulate matters and heavy metals in the atmosphere. The goal of this study was to assess the heavy metals pollution in street dust of Tehran and evaluate their ecological risk. Materials and Methods: The sampling of street dust was carried out in two areas at the east and west of Tehran. After preparatio...

Massive amounts of geo-tagged and textually annotated images are provided by online photo services such as Flickr and Zommr. However, most existing image retrieval engines only consider text annotations. We present I2RS, a system that allows users to view geo-textual images on Google Maps, find hot topics within a specific geographic region and time period, retrieve images similar to a query im...

As a contribution to a better understanding of the integration of different data sets into knowledge-based classification processes the presented study compares different data-fusion techniques which combine spectral and textural information of a QuickBird scene with ancillary data layers and a knowledge base for the identification of forest structures and habitats. The approach compares a fuzz...
