Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) type II (Hunter's syndrome) is caused by mutations in the iduronate 2-sulfatase (IDS) fusion protein. MPS-II affects the brain, and enzyme replacement therapy is not effective in the brain, because the enzyme does not cross the blood-brain barrier. To treat mouse models of MPS-II with brain-penetrating IDS, the lysosomal enzyme was reengineered as an IgG-IDS fusion p...

Strategic alliances in the form of interorganizational networks continue to receive attention in both service and manufacturing industries as a potential form of competitive advantage. Health care organizations, in particular, have embraced partnerships and strategic alliances with much intensity, adopting the interorganizational network as the new business model for the health care industry. Y...

Inverted duplicates (IDs) are pervasive in genomes and have been reported to play functional roles in various biological processes. However, the general underlying evolutionary forces that maintain IDs in genomes remain largely elusive. Through a systematic screening of the Drosophila melanogaster genome, 20,223 IDs were detected in nonrepetitive intergenic regions, far more than expectation un...

We prove that the integrated density of states (IDS) associated to a random Schrödinger operator is locally uniformly Hölder continuous as a function of the disorder parameter λ. In particular, we obtain convergence of the IDS, as λ → 0, to the IDS for the unperturbed operator at all energies for which the IDS for the unperturbed operator is continuous in energy.

It has been suggested that infant-directed speech (IDS) is a special speech register conducive to gaining infants’ attention, eliciting and expressing affect, and teaching infants about the phonology of the ambient language. Certain similarities have been observed between IDS and pet-directed speech (PDS), but until now these have not been systematically studied. In this study IDS, PDS, and adu...

Adults address infants with a special speech register known as infant-directed speech (IDS), which conveys both linguistic and emotional information through its characteristic lexicon and exaggerated prosody (e.g., higher pitched, slower, and hyperarticulated). Although caregivers are known to regulate the usage of IDS (linguistic and emotional components) depending on their child's development...

Recently data mining methods have gained importance in addressing network security issues, including network intrusion detection-a challenging task in network security. Intrusion detection systems aim to identify attacks with a high detection rate and a low false alarm rate. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) in computer network security are real-time softwa...
